They could do new advanced jobs eg. Lv 50 whm + Lv 50 bkm unlocks a quest line for the red mage soul stone. As a red mage you can use staves which unlock all whm skills or tomes which unlock all bkm skills or rapier which unlock a preset whm and bkm skills.

Same could be done for samurai or dark knight or any of the other popular classes.

Just an idea on how to get new jobs to work with the current system

If they're using a raipier for a wand and not a primarily stabbing weapon, I'd rather see the job remain buried than bring out such an abomination some have tried to turn it into in FFXI.

You generally can't change weapons from class to job, as I noted to OrganizationXIII. Making jobs like that would require that you choose one base class, and that is the base class from which you obtain the majority of your skills. You could theoretically equip the same stone on multiple classes, but it would be pointless to design that way. If the skills were identical, the class would be gimped; if the skills were different, you might as well have just made two different stones. I find the notion of "advanced jobs" to be utterly contrary to FFXIV's core design. The only real way to insert something like a Red Mage is to create a dedicated new class for it. New classes will come, provided FFXIV maintains enough subs to get them in.

Also, when you said "Red Mage", you meant "Sage", because the Sage is the caster that does both white and black magic. A Red Mage must also have melee ability.

Pretty much this. Said class will likely be a Fencer, and be a DoW rather than DoM.

The Sorcerer would be an obvious choice, but I see it more being Thaumaturge + Gladiator.

-In FF, Sorcerer's traditionally used Magicked blades and wear Arabian style garb.
-Both Thaumaturge and Gladiator guilds are in Ul'Dah, a city completely based on the Arabian Nights style.

Hence, only seems natural to add the job in the game.

Could be. Can go either way, really. The problem is that a Red Mage necessarily breaks current rules: you must give a DoM weaponskills or you give a DoW attack spells. Some people have suggested having weapon enchants as the spells, but that is not a Red Mage, that is a Mystic Knight.

For balance reasons, I personally would go with the DoM route: it is easier to balance cross-class spells compared to cross-class weaponskills, and it gives you more room to leave versatility to cross-class compared to DoW. Choosing to come from DoW means that you have to fit your main damage combo(s) as well as all attack spells into the main tree, which is a bit tough to do (limits the mechanics you choose), and the cross-class weaponskills are tougher to balance around (+slow, +crit, reaction +slow, several DoT that don't interrupt autoattacks). On the beta forums, I had posted a complete design for a Red Mage / Mystic Knight class -- I might repost it on these forums as well, along with the second job and Chemist/Thief designs I never posted.

    That's not entirely true.

Deathbringer has been a staple weapon for Dark Knight, which tends to be a one handed sword not a 2 handed sword such as you find in FFXI (chaosbringer), hell in 11 they tend to use Scythe over Great Swords. There is even a FF game where they use polearms. XD

Also some a fun read about Dark Knights: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Knight
(btw just a fun read for about all the jobs in the Final Fantasy series).

    And of course Musketeer

To go further, way I see it for Musketeer is it'd be a starting class, with Corsair as the job for it, so:

Musketeer = Corsair (ARC/MRD as 15 support class) and then Machinist (Arcanist as 15 support class)

    {Can I have it?}
