Does the AFK timer make any kind of warning noise before it logs you out? While I'm happy there's a timer, I can understand the concern of people who might alt-tab to say... browse the forums... while I'm the duty finder which can take more than 30 minutes. As long as there's some warning notification so you know to alt-tab back in, I don't see a problem.
I've had days where I've taken a 30 minute poop. So, bad idea.
Well... to make your point valid, these games should have at least the same amount of concurrent connections than this or other popular MMOs have... If those games doesn't have that is because they DONT have that many connections.... Is simple logic my friend. The games that have implemented that is because the big amount of attempts they have at the same time, as simple as that, which means is NEEDED. Also you mentioned about you don't having 1017, that's irrelevant because you are not the WHOLE community, I've had it 2 times since the server upgrade last week and I'm in a JP server, I was login into the game in NA prime time not JP time.
Hold on guys, I gotta go make a 30 minute sandwich! :b haha
If the server isn't at capacity, then you're not taking up space. There is enough room for everyone. You're still taking up space that could be used for a player actually playing the game, or causing unnecessary server load. We all share the game. What insult is it to be removed when not using it?
If it's that much of a bother to you, you can use one of those anti afk kick macros you where talking about. Really, its not even an annoyance. If you're gone from you computer that long, what's 30 seconds of logging back in? I don't see how the extremely minor negative outweighs the minor positive.
I can use a macro to avoid the kick, but I shouldn't have to do it. The fact that this is possible just illustrates how pointless this "feature" is. Having it benefits nobody. You admit the positive is minor, as is the negative. If neither the benefits nor the pitfalls have a substantial impact, then why did they waste time implementing it in the first place?
They do. In Maplestory, pretty much everyone is dogpiled on the first server that was set up for the game, and subsequently dogpiled in the first channel way beyond how may people should really be on it. There are idle people all over the place and still there's no afk kick timer. The experience is much smoother on the other servers, but they still didn't need it. Why punish everyone when one server is overcrowded?Well... to make your point valid, these games should have at least the same amount of concurrent connections than this or other popular MMOs have...

What about the influx of new players once digital sales resume? And what about PS4 players?
You don't know how bad it might get. Leave the auto-logout alone!
Server load is server load even if the server isn't capped. The servers will lag more at 95% cap than they would at 80%, even if they are not maxed. Why do you fail to understand this. You are still taking up space regardless of the server reaching it's maximum limit or not.If the server isn't at capacity, then you're not taking up space. There is enough room for everyone.

Would ya look at that. First time i'm able to log right in after getting home from work! Thank you auto-logout!
30 mins is too long anyway, lets shoot for 15 minutes. There can be many unexpected circumstances that could pull you away from your computer for 30 minutes or more, making this timer ridiculously short. Login issues mostly went away after the last big maintenance, so why did they still feel the need to put this in? People aren't really staying logged in just to keep a spot on the server anymore, because it hasn't been necessary.
Please, remove this needless feature once the worlds are stable , or make it on by default but optional in the configuration. If you don't, people are going to make keyboard macros and stuff to circumvent it, so it's pointless anyway.
