    It wasn't that way before.

    Basically they are saying "here, have a cake ton of SP for very little work, instant gratification! But wait wait, not so much, don't choke on it". Leveling has become a lot more fun since they pumped up the SP, but it'd be over way too fast if there was no surplus.
    There's a difference between PUNISHING and BALANCING. SE is just making sure you don't choke on the double layered cake they are giving you.

    People need to stop obessing about getting their jobs to 50 and start focusing on creating a well rounded character with skills from every other job. And even doing other things.

    This isn't called rush-to-the-top-XIV. And hey, if you wanna rush to the top go ahead, no one's stopping you. They are just making it harder. Why do they need to facilitate it for you? They are already giving you mad SP.

    playing several classes to get rid of the surplus would only work if the system had fixed or at least 90% fixed numbers in stats. Since changing from a mage to a tank takes damn long (if you dotn wanna be gimp due to no vit and high int etc.)
    the system just fails completely.

    It just pisses people off and its not thought through, like many said alraedy, give the casual players an SP boost. Duration is calculated by how long the person was offline on that certain character. Other games do it, it works pretty well and isnt pissing anyone off.

    But i most things SE did that are pissing people off currently were a cheap attempt to get rid of RMT or make it harder for them.
    Everything just hurt the gamer community, the RMT dont even care i think, they dont "play" the game to enjoy it....

    The last player poll's results indicated that the new system overhaul will include independant status builds per class, the removal of physical level and the ammount of distributable points to be dependant on your class' rank.

    So if that was the issue, then there's no issue.

    --oh and playing a mage and melee job really isn't an issue. DEX currently does nothing, and its been proven in several tests. So you have enough points to spare into other stats, and vit is shared by both jobs, so...

    personally I keep both my vit capped, str at par with it and mnd at 80. I had been keeping up with piety too (rings would make up the difference) but I am currently removing my piety and allocating it into STR to test out where it caps.

    The only thing surplus is doing right now is forcing you out of playing with friends if your other classes don't have similar ranks to theirs rather than playing 1 class and keeping the same group. Levelling speed is the last thing being influenced here.

    the mage and tank was one example. The game has crafting jobs as well who as far as i know require different stats as well. And if they are useless there as well, then its no need to talk about this further since we have to wait for them to fix it anyways but i believe that other stats Do help on certain crafting jobs. And if you multi-level more jobs you wont have much fun with the current system.

    And the fact that dex isnt working as you said for DOW and its still not fixed... well that is another story

    Surplus or not; I still got 7 ranks in a weekend with surplus and would have ranked up more if people weren't scared because of that useless homeopathic pseudo-restriction. Surplus is a fail and I'm glad they're getting rid of it. Ranking up shouldn't be challenging. Dungeons, NM, instances, whatever other content that's not related to ranking up a job should be. If I want a second job, I go get a second job and get paid. I don't pay to have to work as if I had a second job. That would be insane.

    You guys are arguing over nothing. Surplus has little effect on anyone's ability to fly though ranks. Has fatigue ever stopped you from gaining SP?

    They most likely will keep fatigue at least until PS3 release or until they raise the level cap. Whichever comes first. My reasoning behind this is that it will take longer for people to reach rank 50, which also means it will take longer before those rank 50s come to post and whine and complain on the forums about everything.
