I have a similar story:

I ran into a total d-bag tank during a Wanderer's Palace run. (I realized later that I could have avoided him simply by unchecking the 'F' in duty finder)

Throughout the run, this guy is cussing everyone out, telling us we're the worst DRG/WHM/BLM ever, Swearing up a storm etc etc. Basically he was verbally abusing me, our WHM and our other DD non-stop.

When we reach the final boss, I tell everyone to stop.

Then I go off on him. I tell him that he's the rudest player I've ever played with in FFXIV including the entire existence of 1.0. I tell him that if there was a cross-server /blacklist, that he'd be the first on the list. I rip on his crappy gear (much of it was >40) And finally, I tell him that I WILL NOT FIGHT THE BOSS unless he /grovels in apology to each of the party members.


He tells me to $&!# off and proceeds to run up and attack the final boss.. the other members reluctantly follow him and they all get killed while I'm sitting outside /laughing at him.

Then he re-spawns and comes back and says he doesn't care, and he's gonna go make some food.

Less than a minute later he starts getting antsy and starts complaining that we aren't doing anything.

I tell him that I will not enter the boss fight unless he /grovels before me in apology.

A few more minutes and:




After that we went on to beat the boss easily, and he was much better behaved (as in, he didn't say a word the rest of the dungeon)

Lesson: If there is one thing these type of jack-asses doesn't want to lose, it's time. Their main goal is to get stuff as fast as possible. Don't assist them unless they learn to behave! You'll make the game better for everyone in the process~

well ive never played the 1.0 or whatever, but im new to ffxiv so now my pug is 28 and when i see people looking for dps in tam or copper mines i always say "' hey, lvl 28 pug here willing to help anyone with their dungeon instances "...ive always been a helpful player, i may not know much about certain dungeons or whatever, but im always willing to help lower level players cuz it just makes me feel better knowing ive helped someone new

There are really some horrible people that play these games. Being on the internet empowers these idiots.

Normal Person + Crowd of People + Internet anonymity = Someone who can say/do something and get away with it most of the time.

Good for you OP. I ran into my first jerk the other day. Doing sunken temple he said it was his first run (tanking) and he was running around without everyone and dying to temple bees, then had the nerve to say I was a shitty healer and just bashing the party in general. We all left him.<3

That is status quo for wow tank behavior. They range to far, expect insta heals and pretty much make our jobs miserable. I wont chase after them, if they are so good they can heal themselves. I can pull another group in 15 seconds. I have been very lucky with tanks, and a few tank dps husband and wife. They simply rock!

Then it dawned on me: they can't kick me. I can sit here for as long as I like, and there's NOTHING they can do about it except re-queue in the Duty Finder. I was still laughing this morning.

I approve. I would have told them to actually apologize for being jerks or I'll just continue to afk.

Another fun thing to do as a tank is just before the final boss you say "OK guys I'm not pulling until each one of you says one thing you like about me" and really seriously don't go into the boss area till they each say something. It's kinda trolling but it's all in fun

Honestly, all the dungeon runs I've been on have been fun little romps with only one group being in a rush to finish and even then, after the first couple deaths they responded amicably when I told them that it won't hurt to slow down. The rest of the dungeon after that was a milk run. I did them all as a DPS, it was interesting and not once did I steal hate (I don't do overzealous, overzealous tends to kill parties) unless it was in the pursuit of adds. Sucks to hear that the WoW kids are already starting to try and force their ideas on the game, if those ideas sink in it can only end badly for the rest of us.

sweet!!!! lmao...when i did ifrit the 1st time, they all told me about the nail ( which i never saw ) so here i was just beating the bricks off of ifrit and all, we get him down to about 1/4 health and bam!!! he jumps up and lands, instantly killing everyone lol...so we had a 2nd go and killed him, i told everyone that it was my 1st time having a go at him and they said i did just fine and all...me and my kids love the hell out of this game ( whenever i can get in due to world overpop lol ) i cant stand arrogant players and i do the same thing cu most of the time, im the 1 with the highest lvl, but even then im quick to help anyone with whatever they need, its just the right thing to do

But I play at a leisurely pace and I actually enjoy the game, so a few minutes isn't much..

But for desperate hardcore asshats, it's practically a lifetime~

The best part is, with duty-finder, there is literally nothing they can do -- other than leave and waste all their time and progress (after which, you just use DF to replace them)

It's only a waste of time if you aren't enjoying it!
