Well done sir. Well done. I never see a reason why anyone needs to be an asshole in an MMO. It's not even PvP-oriented. You can't exactly inspire teamwork by badmouthing someone, especially before the start of an event. Was doing the lvl 49 duty (the one after Garuda) earlier, we failed a couple of times because only a few players knew the fight. The healer started cussing and blaming the 2nd tank for every little mistake and caused the party to disband. Queued up again and got the same guy as the off tank and downed the event on the first try. Basically, just give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and if you don't like them, just courteously leave. No harm done.

Funnily enough I got insulted by the main tank on Ifrit hard last night! He started insulting people when they died and I asked him to stop, pointing out that it's not going to help anyone - which once we won made me public enemy #1 of course and I got a tirade about being a crap player and all that even though *I* had to scrape *him* up off the floor at the end XD

That's not acceptable. But what's also not acceptable is the total silence from everyone else. Everyone who keeps quiet when someone goes off on a rant for no reason is giving these people permission to behave like morons - maybe you don't mind, or maybe it's not directed at you - but the next time they do it they might be attacking someone who does, and that means we end up with one more bully in the DF queue and one less enthusiastic learner.

That's amazing. Kids like that really irriate me, the Ifrit fight is SO easy compared to the videos I watched for 1.0.

I was healing at Cutter's Edge. It was my first run in that dungeon and we had about 25 minutes to fight the last boss. Before we ran in I reminded the group that this was my first go, but no one stopped to explain the blue an purple deal. Needless to say we wiped. Before we went in again the monk explained how the blue/purple works so we headed in. We made it very far, but ultimately the eye targeted me and I had no idea what to do. We wiped again. The tank, who I will not mention by name because I'm hoping she was just having a bad go, called me retarded and said we were going to lose because of me. I wanted to just stand there on the last go and watch her die, but I healed away and we won with 2 minutes left. If you find yourself in dungeons with people who say: This is my 1st go. Educate them! Help them out. The game is a week old for crying out loud! Not everyone plays night and day.

Honestly, I wish more people did this. Most of the time I get a DF group, and nobody else will bother saying anything, new or not. They just run off towards mobs as soon as everyone is in and start pulling. I end up having to explain boss mechanics on nearly every run, two thirds the time I'm marking for our tank because he doesn't know how or doesn't realize its importance (and I'm a BLM).

The worst is when you get some arrogant, impatient tank who cant wait patiently til you finish explaining the fight and runs in unprepared, and gets everyone killed.

I did my very first Ifrit run last night. I asked first thing if there were any tips that I might need to know as a lancer, and no one said anything. So we are fighting and everything is going fine, then suddenly I see "OMFG KILL THE NAIL!!!!!" about ten different ways in the chat log. Next thing I know we're all dead. So the entire party begins trashing me for not killing the nail that I didn't even see (because it spawned on the other side of Ifrit where I couldn't see it), and after a few seconds, it gets pretty nasty. Instead of politely telling me what I did wrong, they chose to insult me. So what did I do? I went and made a corned beef sandwich. I sat there for 15 minutes and watched them alternate between insulting me further, and trying to beat Ifrit without me. Then it dawned on me: they can't kick me. I can sit here for as long as I like, and there's NOTHING they can do about it except re-queue in the Duty Finder. I was still laughing this morning.

I approve. I would have told them to actually apologize for being jerks or I'll just continue to afk.

Another fun thing to do as a tank is just before the final boss you say "OK guys I'm not pulling until each one of you says one thing you like about me" and really seriously don't go into the boss area till they each say something. It's kinda trolling but it's all in fun

sweet!!!! lmao...when i did ifrit the 1st time, they all told me about the nail ( which i never saw ) so here i was just beating the bricks off of ifrit and all, we get him down to about 1/4 health and bam!!! he jumps up and lands, instantly killing everyone lol...so we had a 2nd go and killed him, i told everyone that it was my 1st time having a go at him and they said i did just fine and all...me and my kids love the hell out of this game ( whenever i can get in due to world overpop lol ) i cant stand arrogant players and i do the same thing cu most of the time, im the 1 with the highest lvl, but even then im quick to help anyone with whatever they need, its just the right thing to do

    I have a similar story:

I ran into a total d-bag tank during a Wanderer's Palace run. (I realized later that I could have avoided him simply by unchecking the 'F' in duty finder)

Throughout the run, this guy is cussing everyone out, telling us we're the worst DRG/WHM/BLM ever, Swearing up a storm etc etc. Basically he was verbally abusing me, our WHM and our other DD non-stop.

When we reach the final boss, I tell everyone to stop.

Then I go off on him. I tell him that he's the rudest player I've ever played with in FFXIV including the entire existence of 1.0. I tell him that if there was a cross-server /blacklist, that he'd be the first on the list. I rip on his crappy gear (much of it was >40) And finally, I tell him that I WILL NOT FIGHT THE BOSS unless he /grovels in apology to each of the party members.

He tells me to $&!# off and proceeds to run up and attack the final boss.. the other members reluctantly follow him and they all get killed while I'm sitting outside /laughing at him.

Then he re-spawns and comes back and says he doesn't care, and he's gonna go make some food.

Less than a minute later he starts getting antsy and starts complaining that we aren't doing anything.

I tell him that I will not enter the boss fight unless he /grovels before me in apology.

    A few more minutes and:

After that we went on to beat the boss easily, and he was much better behaved (as in, he didn't say a word the rest of the dungeon)

Lesson: If there is one thing these type of jack-asses doesn't want to lose, it's time. Their main goal is to get stuff as fast as possible. Don't assist them unless they learn to behave! You'll make the game better for everyone in the process~
