Ah yes, the old "Scholar is fine because White Mage isn't" routine... I hope they split these forums into individual Jobs soon, though if XI is anything to go off, that wont solve anything.

I make one comment about giving Scholar Esuna simply to highlight the sheer absurdity of Leeches even being a Job ability, and then focus the majority of my post on ideas to actually make Leeches worthwhile instead, and I get quoted for a rant apparently not even aimed at me. Final Fantasy community forums never change, it seems.

Oh, and Scholar has Cleric Stance for the same reasons White Mage does. Both Jobs are meant to deal some damage as well but their main stat inhibits this, they saw fit to give Scholar Cleric Stance instead of making a new Job ability with the exact same functionality as Cleric Stance, because that's the logical thing to do. If Leeches is just going to be Esuna under a different name (again, most of my post was on improving Leeches instead), then there really is no reason why it shouldn't be treated differently, no reason other than "AHMAHGAWD STOP ASKING FOR WHM STUFF!!1!$!".

I don't think anyone (except for maybe one guy replying to this thread, who likes to rage) think's Scholars are fine based on the condition of white mage. But Scholar is a far cry from being outright "broken" or "unplayable" as a main healer as it stands.

It absolutely needs some QoL changes in a few areas, but they're just that, quality of life.

Final Fantasy XI killing my tolerance for such people, I'm afraid. I really hope broken pet mechanics doesn't end up as XIVs Modus Veritas (which to my knowledge still hasn't been fixed), and I damn sure hope I don't see people saying it shouldn't be fixed because White Mage sucks. "White Mage sucks" is an argument for White Mage suggestions, not undermining Scholar suggestions.
