wow thats awesome man. You wont regret your purchase. Shield kicks ass.Just bought an Nvidia Shield because of this thread, and also because I was trying to find a device to play XIV desk free. I believe Nvidia owes you a solid!
...unless you are from Nvidia. In which case this was an extremely clever sales pitch
edit: and by "just bought" I mean I just left my office to walk 45 minutes to the nearest store that had one and back

It really is hard to describe just how good it is without seeing it hands on. I just completed the main story line, playing exclusively on the shield.
Additional information:
You don't actually have to use borderless windowed mode. When using full screen however, keep in mind that if you lose full screen it will kick you off on the shield (or in rare cases may put you back in the steam screen). Do NOT relaunch steam unless you are sure it isn't still running. Many times a few alt-tab cycles on your PC keyboard will square you away.
Other notes: I have an iPad and I am using it with an app called AirKeyboard or something like that so I can type on chat windows, as needed.I had varying success with a Bluetooth keyboard paired to the shield but I kept hitting the windows key, which would boot the shield off. I plan on picking up a different Bluetooth keyboard and trying again.
I'm running this on a Razer Edge Pro and it plays wonderfully at high settings. Worth every penny (in my eyes) because I'm constantly living out of hotels and don't want to lug around a gaming laptop. My friend has ffxiv running on one of the razer windows tablets fairly well and thats an actual install on the tablet itself. Not the best graphic settings but far from the lowest. Cant wait to get my win8 tablet to see if its possible to run it on the one work is giving me to test before company wide implementation.
are you using the shield on 2.4ghz wifi or 5ghz? Also what kind of range are you getting before you start seeing lag. what nvidia card is in your PC
I kept getting interference on the 2.4ghz, so I bought an Asus rt-ac66u, running dd-wrt. Running the matched pci-e card in my desktop with a 680. As long as it can pick up the router its completely playable with no lag.
Splice I haven’t actually checked anything on the latency but the reviews on the app said low to almost no latency.
Rtpsoulx it works quite well it bugged out on me yesterday when they wanted to update the patch on FF 14 and it wouldn’t let me click anything because I count see the menus. 3g/4g don’t work as well as wireless unless it’s just my phone that’s not letting it work properly I am also in a dungeon and barley get signal sometimes too. But using the Wi-Fi at work it works out very nicely.
Sorry it took so long to respond to you both.
I'm just going to call it now. This marks the beginning of the end for turtle-heading in dungeons.
As a follow up, I did the ifrit hard mode fight, and dodged every eruption, jump, and plume with ease.
how to VPN this and play outside your house

using a mobile hotspot probably have to much lag for raiding.. but who wouldnt like to craft some items while at lunch or sell/buy items
HeavensWard theme song lyrics:
-"We can [Stance]dance if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause your friends don't [Stance]dance
And if they don't [Stance]dance
Well they're no friends of mine"
