I was playing FFXI and WoW over 3g on my iPad many years ago using "everyair" =P

I will caution, I have worn out the A button on two shiekds already (both replaced advanced rma, prepaid return shipping).
as for this game I still prefer my vita and the ps4, the shield is interesting but I already have enough devices to do what it can from iphone and ipad to an MS Surface pro to a ps4 and vita so I am not terribly impressed. The delay is tolerable so I am sure the vita and the shield provide pretty much the same and for crafting I much prefer to just log in using the MS surface pro or stream to my Ipad and just push the buttons on the screen easily as it lays beside me while I read or do work.

Say you went to work and used their wifi, could you play your PC games through an internet connection on a different network with the shield?

But it's not truly portable right? You have to be on the same network as the computer running FFXIV? I really don't know I thought I read that somewhere.

Found this on the shield's FAQ page:

How does streaming games from my PC to SHIELD work?

NVIDIA uses the H.264 encoder built into GeForce GTX 650 or higher desktop GPUs along with special streaming software integrated into GeForce experience to stream games from the PC to SHIELD over the user's home Wi-fi network with ultra-low latency. Gamers use SHIELD as the controller and display for their favorite PC games as well as for steam big picture. This enables gamers to get a GeForce GTX PC gaming experience anywhere in their home Wi-fi network.

So i'm pretty sure you have to be at home to play it... if i could be somewhere else and play, it ~might~ be worth that $300

if you watch this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Lgxy...ature=youtu.be you will see at the end of the video that the guy mentions and shows a Verizon Hotspot thingy he has setup with VPN with his pc or something. This allows you play shield and ff14 away from your house somehow I'm gathering? Watch and see what you think

I own the Nvidia Shield and I'm really happy with it. Its totally worth the price of admission imo. It does everything a android device does plus its atleast 2x stronger graphically than a Vita. You will not regret buying one especially for this game.

My friend has ffxiv running on one of the razer windows tablets fairly well and thats an actual install on the tablet itself. Not the best graphic settings but far from the lowest. Cant wait to get my win8 tablet to see if its possible to run it on the one work is giving me to test before company wide implementation.

I'm running this on a Razer Edge Pro and it plays wonderfully at high settings. Worth every penny (in my eyes) because I'm constantly living out of hotels and don't want to lug around a gaming laptop.

With the screen as small as it is do you find it hard to see? My wife and I may be having another baby in the next year which will lead to me putting the computer in the basement and giving up my office. I've been looking at getting a laptop so that I can play in the bedroom without disturbing the Mrs; however, if this is viable then I could go this route instead (and upgrade my graphics card since I have a 560 currently).

We don't want the full computer in the room, and I don't want to be a basement dweller, so I need someting more portable to play on.

    My Nvidia Shield Setup

Final Fantasy 14 on the Shield rocks!!!! I absolutely love playing a full blown mmo with awesome controller support outside on my hammock or in bed as the wifey sleeps next to me. I no longer feel like im tied to the dungeon that is my office. I wanted to share my hardware setup for those that are interested in playing this game, on Ultimate Graphics, using the Nvidia Shield. This setup has no visible lag what so ever in game. I have barely any visible lag in any game for that matter.

    PC: i5 2500k OC w/ Corsair H80 Water Cooler
    8 gigs ddr3 ram
MSI GTX 770 2gig OC Version
    500gig SSD

Router: Apple Airport Extreme 5ghz Freq (2011 model)

    I LOVE MY SHIELD!
