NVIDIA SHIELD - Working!

I'm considering picking this up tommorow morning IF I am capable of running the game without streaming from my PC. I own a 560 TI and I dont want to sink cash into another card right now --- And more into a Shield. My question is: Can I install this game to the Shields memory and play the game without using my PC at all?

I need a new device that is usable at work for FF14!

There is no way to run FFXIV, or any other PC game from the Shield itself. Any PC game you could play on it would have to be streamed in some way to the Shield.

Perhaps in a future refresh of the Shield in a few years this could be possible ... maybe around the time the Volta series comes out?? :P

Thought I would follow up:

I have experimented with the remote play capability and its pretty impressive. The risk of disconnects is a bit higher but 60ms delay in responsiveness is hardly noticable. I tethered my 4G connection and it was super smooth. Also tried wifi in a few other locations and it was very playable.

I will caution, I have worn out the A button on two shiekds already (both replaced advanced rma, prepaid return shipping).

I'd rather play it from my monster laptop at ultra-high everything.

PSVita might be interesting tho', but I don't plan to get a PS4 just for that.

Guys,

Whenever I launch FFXIV in Steam Big Picture mode I lose focus of the launch window and focus goes back to Steam while the launch goes to the background and there is no way to re-focus to the launcher window and login to the game.

Any facing that problem? How do you fix this?
