Anarchy Online - Couldn't create accounts, couldn't setup billing, couldn't get into the game. When you could get into the game lag made it unplayable. A lightning storm would basically freeze everything except for chat. This went on for months.

WoW - Servers were full, massive queues and wait times, terrible lag, servers crashing. Again, it took weeks and/or months in some cases to resolve these issues.

Star Wars Galaxies - Servers not responding because of not being prepared for load. You could end up waiting for hours or longer to get into the game. Again, lag and missing content, numerous bugs once you were in the game.

Aion - Queues to get into the game took many hours in normal cases.

I could continue, but this is 1 day into release and claiming it is the worst at this point is ridiculous. If login issues are the biggest thing we run into it is already a smoother launch than many of these because of how smooth the game is once you are in.
You are pointing to three games that are almost a decade old or older. There has been a great deal of evolution in the gaming industry since then.

Yes, even today, games release with bugs. While games like SWTOR, GW2, Rift, TSW had bugs on release, they were not game breaking bugs or errors. People could still log in (some with a queue) and play. That has not been possible for a large number of people who are still experiencing problems logging in due to login limitation and restrictions on character creation which SE implemented to solve the following problems:

90K disconnects that made characters unplayable
3102 and 10102 errors that made accounts unplayable
instance issues that made story progression impossible
1017 error that necessitates spamming 0 for hours with the hopes of getting into a queue or the game

Any issue that prevents a player from playing the game is game breaking and I've not experienced any game breaking issues during a launch since WoW. With the evolution of the gaming industry over the last decade, its not acceptable any longer and saying it happened 10+ years ago doesn't make it okay for it to be happening now.
