I want it now because I paid for it mkay.I'm not sure what your intention is with this thread. It is a known issue. To vent here is akin to pandering, and only serves to color you as one of the few that this game will benefit from -not- having around.
Consider these facts:
- Launches are historically flawed.
- - This is an "acceptable" practice in this field. Mainly because "Launch" server capacity isn't indicative of -actual- capacity (say, a few months down the road). As this is as much a business model as it is an entertainment platform, there is more of a focus on long-term server stability, as opposed to short-term stability.
- - Consider a "return-on-investment" mindset. Should we spend a relatively large sum of money on a short-term fix; only to be stuck with that overhead once the flood has receded? - Or, should we focus those resources on long-term stability, development, etc.?
These posts are similar to a child screaming, "I want it NOW!" Please, be more constructive.
Like buying a damn cake we all bought, I cannot even eat because of some reason that I can't think up at the moment.
Point is I have cake that I can't have and I paid my share to eat da cake!
Many companies have a history of "failed" launches as some of you put it. There are servers you can log onto. Failed is a POV; I have been playing on a Japanese server and there are many other Americans doing the same thing. So you can get online and you can play.
Bioware had similar problems with server load on Star Wars The Old Republic which is considered a success. World of Warcraft used to have this problem with each expansion they released. I remember raids being cancelled in BC and Wrath because core raid members were stuck in queue to get online and in game. I remember the horror of not being able to do a dungeon in Warcraft during Wrath because all the instance server were full. Players running into dungeon portals like lemmings hoping to get off the climb, only to be stopped by an invisible wall!
Calm down people! Why do you think you are getting the first 30 days free anyways? It's not because you bought the game, it's because at launch they expect server stress issues to arise. Beta's are not known for accurately stress testing servers. They asked you very nicely and 6 days in advance to wait patiently. You could have also waited to active you're game key if you were worried about not making the most of your free time.
Who the fuck knows, I've been waiting for three days to be able to play now. And NO, other games didn't have it nearly this bad at launch, stop making that up.
I would say we are getting the first 30 days free because it has been that way even back to EQ! I think that is what most of these people are expressing is their POV. I would gladly go and make a character on some random server if that meant I could get in reliably and also know that I would eventually be able to rejoin with my friends with no cost to me. SE just needs to set our expectations and most of this would go away. The fact that they are being quiet and letting us stew they are getting irritated customers who are communicating their expectations or at least telling SE how they failed to meet their expectations. That is business and is healthy.
I personally still question why as people we are no longer speaking up for when we think things are wrong and becoming so accepting when things could be so much better if we just held people accountable. While many people have welcomed the friend of the MMO developer and are willing to give them lienency and let this launches get worse and worse, I am for speaking up and letting them know this type of crap should be avoided and while it may not help SE it may help the next MMO launch.
Welcome to the year 1017.
Wow where do you knights come from, no neither of those two games had it NEARLY this bad, they allowed you to play and to queue. Yes they might have lagged and needed a restart but they didn't restrict you from making a character at DAY ONE. That is absolutely disgusting. And there is no point creating a character on a Japanese server when I have no intention of ever continuing playing there. And no again, the first 30 days is not an extra month of beta, it's to make you buy the game and lure you in after the first month if you like, but as we ain't even allowed to play it I guess most wont. Many companies have a history of "failed" launches as some of you put it. My point is you can play on another server, primarily the Japanese servers. You are choosing not to. And no I am not making it up. It's one of the reasons they offered free transfers off "over populated" realms the end of Burning Crusade. Medivh US was sent to Garrosh US, look it up. http://www.wowwiki.com/Server:Medivh_US Section Overpopulation
Square Enix also warned you!!! If you had any lick of business sense you would know they are not getting any more money for new server (over what they had in 1.0) until they have proven to the stockholders, board, CEO, etc that it is a good game and it will be profitable. SE warning you about the congestion was also their way of saying "we know its going to be back, but we are not being given an allowance to prevent it." They knew it was coming based off the pre-order sales and how many legacy players returned to beta.
Bah Riixie they could have made arrangements with Vendors to have servers in a depot ready for launch and just need a clearance based off of pre-orders. Most of the hardware companies are net 30 and they should have had the servers in on Monday. Still not an excuse to not communicate to us. Saying you are going to punch some one in the face does not make it ok to do it. Nor does it make it not ok, for the punchee to complain about getting hit.

why do i want to play on a Japanese server? my wife and friends are here in the US on a server with pour friends. i want to join them. i cannot since i locked out of being able to do so. why are there so many people defending a product that is letting us who have supported it twice be let down yet again in a poor manner, if SE would talk to us and keep us up to date i would be happy. or maybe they decided to updated twitter with a action filled "Launch" trailer and promote the release of it on their and go on holiday. obviously, Yoshi is quite now, support unavailable, and P.R. is non existent. My point is you can play on another server, primarily the Japanese servers.
