Surely we should be looking more towards the idea of restricting class armour (just look at the latest NM drops) and not a class that can equip any old thing.

I'm not arguing whether or not it makes sense, I'm just doubting that it's necessarily a good idea to be so restrictive with the jobs.

As I ninja-edited, you could be a WAR/WHM in FFXI, even though it didn't make much sense. So maybe one could argue some sense in that, but how about something off the wall, like SAM/SMN? Point being, they didn't restrict what subjob you could have in FFXI. Would you argue that they should have? It would be no different than restricting what classes you can use as any given job.

All I'm suggesting is that they not limit it, but rather impose restrictions that make certain classes more effective on certain jobs than other classes. Similar to how gear favors certain classes, so could jobs.
