I could be wrong (I often am) but I think we may just have a simple misunderstanding with the Dev Post:

They used the term "Cross-World" not cross-server. I think perhaps they meant an Open World
Event that people from "across Eorzea" can participate in. Kinda like FFXI Besieged but instead of relying on LS-mates who happen to be there informing you it is about to start, perhaps you sign up in advance and are notified when the event is about to start. You can quit what you're doing and join the "que" and be auto-partied with others for an epic battle.

If this is not what they are thinking...I kinda hope they think about it a little more. These are 2 good suggestions to consider:

An on-going event which players could jump into may be a great twist for this game. And although this a poor example, it is one nonetheless, but Rift has open world events in the form of, obviously, rifts tearing into the world, from another. Although I don't want to see this kind of inter-dimensional aspect in FF, I think something like this could work well. For example, creating a small open-instance/world zone where we can join the front lines in a fight against the Garlean Empire.

I would like it if Companies introduced these type of events, minus the massive lag-fest (I'm looking at you Besieged).

Servers are referred to as "Worlds" in this game.

The actual language used was "ワールド垣根", which literally means "World Hedge". Now, this is weird, because the "hedge" they are referring to in Japanese is a fence or wall made from living plants.

So this might suggest people are getting their panties in a bunch over nothing.

If so, the community reps should correct themselves sooner or later.

This isn't the first time devs have talked about the dungeon finder feature. Yoshida stated his interest for it back at the beginning of the year.

Very very bad idea. Stay away from this at all costs, this will lead into a desaster.

Please stop wasting resources on ideas like this. Instead, I beg you, focus on the strengths of the FF franchise and the MMO positive experiences of the last decade YOU made (and YOU = Square Enix, not Blizzard).

You said you wanted to make sure that this will be a game worthy of carrying the FF name and major release number before the PS3 version is launched. So please, Yoshi-P, I know you have not much experience with FF and no idea about FF XI at all, but please do not waste the achievements and experiences of the past. You need REAL improvements, FF stands for REAL innovations, and not just fancy mainstream ideas borrowed from other games. You will never reach your goal of turning this game into a worthy FF, when you continue copying instead of focusing on the strengths of the franchise and emphasizing (not to mention IMPLEMENTING) them.

I recommend to start with STORIES, COMPLEXITY and SOUL. Concerning basic game mechanics like LS handing, party searches, and also endgame concepts like Dynamis / Relic Gear, etc: take those ideas which proved to be good and popular in XI during the last 8 years and copy those for XIV, tradition won't hurt if the tradition has been accepted by the player base already. And if it is not broken, then don't fix it!

But in any case, they have said they're "investigating the possiblity"... which is usually the language that they use when they want to placate the rabid players, but actually have no intention of doing so... so I'm not really worried.
Stop stating your opinion as fact. There are some people that find cross-server dungeons fun.

The party search function only works on a server per server basis and again due to poor explanation and documentation of features not everyone knows how to use it.

Well, I don't have time right now to get in on the large, reasoned posts.. besides everyone seems to have done that for me.

    So I'll just add my voice to the growing cluster of people asking: Please, don't implement cross-server dungeons and such forth. I really don't.. just... well. All of the aforementioned reasons this would be a bad idea and more, especially the 'makes it feel more like a game than a world' ones x.x;

the cross-server LFG is a great idea. We can have a bigger pool of players for a party, and that's nice.

    Attitude of players means nothing.
If they are rude, they will be rude with or without a LFG's feature. Simply, SE, has to give tools so we can defend against an impolite player.

LFG, autoteleport near/inside the instance, an improved world chat and LFparty (for raids, NM and quests). This is the way to go.
If some player doesn't wanna use a tool and lose 20 minutes searching a party, I don't care, but I don't wanna lose 20 minutes searching a party.

When a community rep finally comes along and clarifies that they just mean the LFP tool will work across the world (server) and not limited by zones or what have you, I will have a hearty chuckle at everyone's expense.

SE hasn't even given us the ability to kick someone from our Linkshells unless they are online and directly next to you...and you think they can muster up a cross-server LFP tool? Right. XD
