    LOL

Cross-server dungeons are in no way "fun" or "decent".

But in any case, they have said they're "investigating the possiblity"... which is usually the language that they use when they want to placate the rabid players, but actually have no intention of doing so... so I'm not really worried.

    No, no, no, no no...

They said they wanted to make the game casual-friendly. Not casual. There's a world of difference.

An on-going event which players could jump into may be a great twist for this game. And although this a poor example, it is one nonetheless, but Rift has open world events in the form of, obviously, rifts tearing into the world, from another. Although I don't want to see this kind of inter-dimensional aspect in FF, I think something like this could work well. For example, creating a small open-instance/world zone where we can join the front lines in a fight against the Garlean Empire.
FFXI had these type of events, so I would think they could come up with a FFXIV version. But yes they had Besieged and Campaign in FFXI which basically let anyone participate in massive PvE battles for fun and experience points. I would like it if Companies introduced these type of events, minus the massive lag-fest (I'm looking at you Besieged).

I don't like the idea of cross-server content at all. I don't want to be stuck with non role-players when I don't ever go out of character. I'd prefer to stick with the people of Besaid and be more likely to come across other role-players.
I want to meet people from MY community, not make friends with people I'll never see again. :<
I think cross-server things will only have a negative impact on server community.

I wouldn't participate in any content that involved cross-server interaction. Somehow it would make XIV feel more like a game than a world.

Cross-server dungeons are a horrible idea. Any positives it may have are far outweighed by the negatives. Do you want to totally kill the communities on every server, producer? I know it makes content easy to approach, but you will play with people you will never see again. Why that is a good idea or should be supported is beyond me. What was special about XI was the server-based communities where you played with a certain playerbase for years, getting to know them in the many years you played the game. It was worthwhile to make friends, because you actually had a chance to meet them after the party was over. All you're doing is making us play with NPC's that act like humans but are irrelevant to me, thus not worth the communication.

I will also be incredibly sad if you are planning to make the content so easy that just about anyone can clear it (because that's what you have to do when you won't make it so I can choose who I invite and the LFG tool does not discriminate anyone).

Simply said, not everything other MMO's do is good for this game and something you should imitate. MANY THINGS ARE, BUT NOT EVERYTHING.

More important than accessibility, is that you promote socialization. This system does the complete opposite.

The major appeal about FINAL FANTASY is that you can experience memorable stories. And MMORPG's allow for completely unique way of experiencing said stories, by playing with other people while competing, fighting, making alliances, even falling in love and getting yourself known in the community. It is a special type of storytelling single player games can not replicate. What you are about to do completely ruins this type of storytelling. I hope you are aware of this, as the game moves along.

It doesn't matter. Any sort of cross-server functionality, regardless of the implementation, will adversely effect the community.

If it's too messed up, remove it & go back to basic.

I agree on this. make some test first. since we are all still in test state anyway.

I still not see any good reason from those people who are against it yet. Most of them mention about against the casual play style feeling. (but they want to do this to help casual find party! lol) and against robbery. (well this can be done within your own world too! it is all about personality.)

I play Phantasy Star Online and Universe on both JP and US server, it is one example of open world game for years, and I still not see any bad point on it. It only increase the population base, and allow easier recruitment. I never face the robbery party yet, because the game is not just cross-server on instant dungeon, but it allow you to move to any server anytimes. So everybody is living in one big merge server there.

I m all for making new friends, knowing new people. and play together.
