ty for the post, was going to say the same thing but i see you said it alreadyI am all for great LFG options but I am highly opposed to cross server dungeons. I have played other MMOs with this feature and it kills server communities. There has already been a lot of discussion on why many people share this opinion I hope it is taken into consideration. Cross server queueing made WoW feel like a shallow lobby game and not a world. Everyone stands in town queueing for PvP or Dungeons. It is one of the biggest reasons I left WoW and I probably won't hang around FF14 if this happens either. I am looking for world + community feel which the genre seems to be losing.
Cross-realming ultimately will dilute the individual server communities. I'm not opposed to it given the game's current state (and I'm on a "high pop" server), but I think we should wait and see how the PS3 launch and upcoming content implementations pan out before going that route.
I'm really not a fan of cross-server. Having played WoW prior to the LFG system and now, I can say that whilst the LFG system is fantastic in terms of convenience, it's totally delivered the finishing blow to any community that game once had.
I think alternatives such as maintaining versatility of job roles and ease of class switching (but still being able to work towards the same goal through faction reputation rewards etc as well as pure class xp) can help alleviate the need to gather people from different servers, as job roles are easier to fill. (The smaller party size helps too)
Player
Sounds good to me, they can easily still have open world content while providing instanced content.

Do -not- want cross-server groups please.

STOP RUINING THE GAME!!!!!!!
Hm, if its something simmilar to WoW's dungeon finder i guess it would be cool,
because one of the major problems for many casual players...
were to find a group / party going for like CoP / RoZ quests / missions.
So ya, id like this possibility.
There were however some problems with it in WoW, people going afk,
wich well could be reported and auto booted if no confirmation was made etc.
But... could be interesting, i hope they gives us a test run of it.
If it's too messed up, remove it & go back to basic.
And before anyone starts flaming me for actually playing WoW...gtfo plz.
Ya i played WoW for 3years, FFXI for 5 years...think that's nuff said.

I agree on this. make some test first. since we are all still in test state anyway.
I still not see any good reason from those people who are against it yet. Most of them mention about against the casual play style feeling. (but they want to do this to help casual find party! lol) and against robbery. (well this can be done within your own world too! it is all about personality.)
I play Phantasy Star Online and Universe on both JP and US server, it is one example of open world game for years, and I still not see any bad point on it. It only increase the population base, and allow easier recruitment. I never face the robbery party yet, because the game is not just cross-server on instant dungeon, but it allow you to move to any server anytimes. So everybody is living in one big merge server there.
I m all for making new friends, knowing new people. and play together.
