Well it is not all bad. If there are cooking recipes that require fish we should still be able to sell fish on the AH for a profit. After all, the prices there are entirely determined by the player base. When they say fish will be of low value, they *must* mean to the npc

I sure hope is like you say jesse, because I would hate to have fishers be worthless.
I guess the retainer limitation+sales to a vendor make it not worth it for RMT. They won't move the fish fast enough, and if they inundate the market, then they will only drive the price lower.

I do think that fishing should be looked at, and I am sure there are reasons we can all understand as to WHY fishing has gotten back burner treatment...you have to realize, it is one of those gathering skills that is least used, look up stats...yes you will be upsetting a few, but something has to get put on the bottom of a priority list, it happened to be fishing, which sucks for the fishers. I would rather have a game full of people that has poor fishing than an empty game with great fishing... I hope you guys can understand my logic...
Yoshi is the LEAST lazy person and I know LC is speaking in anger due to personally being damaged by the current information, it is natural, but I think LC knows Yoshi will get this handled properly eventually. Given that, I don't think Yoshi should have tried to "sell" fishing by saying it was relaxing...I appreciate his honesty and he should have just said, "Fishing isn't a priority for us right now, I'm sorry and I hope you can understand why, but rest assured we will get to it and make it great, but until then we are going to use it as a tool to prevent RMT damage"

I am angry, yes, and I'll admit that Yoshi is far from lazy. To clarify, I meant that he's taking the easy route with fishing. It's the path of least resistance and requires the least thought. In a term, it's lazy.

The problem with all of it is that no, I don't know that Yoshi will get it all handled. The way this thread and the other thread have been treated (read: not at all) tells me that Fisher is at the very very bottom of the priority list. Yes something has to be down there, but it feels to me that it will stay this way. Here's your lot, go have fun, don't call us.

It's true that maybe, by some slim chance, once everything is "ready" with combat and primal fights and what have you, he'll look at fishing, but what are the chances of that really? There will always be something to fix, something to make better, something to introduce, and fishing will never rise from this rock bottom position on the priority list. The fact is you're right, there aren't many of us, so it's easier to piss off the few of us than the others. But the fact still remains that it's a stupid thing to do, and it's the easy thing to do. He could have made us economically important. He could have made the new mechanics fun and involved. He didn't, and his excuse is so that we can chat and so that RMT don't win. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't fish to chat, and Yoshi should have learned from Tanaka that "fighting RMT" leads to a bad game. And in fact if this new system is as mindless as we all fear (will we even still have fish schools?) the RMTs will absolutely control every single facet of what small hold we have in the economy. I'm assuming there will still be foods that require fish. The RMTs will control that, because the fishing will have been so easy that an idiot could make a bot for it.

Yes, I speak entirely out of anger when I say that I'll quit over this, because I know me and I thrive on tedium. I think the fishing in Animal Crossing is fun, so for all I know I will continue playing this game.

I'm Fishercat after all. I had to be forced to sell my fish at points in 1.0. Everyone who knows me knows I fish to catch fish, so who knows. Maybe I'll love this system. It'll let me hoard to my little hoarder heart's content. But I hoarded fish so that I could help my friends with either their cooking or alchemy. I made money off of it, but it was always about helping. So I pray that fish still have a place in crafting.

I still think it's unfair how much we've been ignored. At the very least they've finally answered some of our questions concerning the economical impact of fish, and his comments on actions basically answers my "What kind of actions can we expect to use while fishing?" question, but we were all hoping to see the new mechanics.
