Fishing in ARR

I keep cross-posting but whatevs...

Bayohne said that a lot of JP were asking the Fishing questions too, which makes me happy, cause at least there are a lot of JP fishers concerned about the state of our job too.

I just don't know what's up. I literally have no idea what they have in mind for this job, even after hearing their answers. Like, fishing for the sake of personal achievements? You get personal achievements for every other job too... what would be special about fisher? Ugh I mean I just don't understand.

I hope there are similar threads to this on the JP forums, equally upset with this same run-around.

I just keep thinking there has to be some reason that they haven't showed it yet. If it was as stupidly simple as they make it sound, surely it would have been finished already.

My personal theory is that they just didn't give a crap about it and it'll "get there when it gets there". Again we are the bottom of the list, obz.

That sounds like planned obsolescence to me.

It's foolish to assume that fish will have absolutely no impact on the economy. I've seen food items in the beta that are named after fish. I can say with some degree of certainty (speculation only of course) that fish will remain an ingredient in cooking, therefore there will still be a demand for fish in the markets.

As someone from another thread pointed out, I think that he was addressing it in terms of FFXI where you could catch fish and make decent money just vendoring them. That apparently won't be the case here.

But who cares if the mechanics are garbage? I don't pay a monthly fee to sit and stare at me screen, or do something in game specifically so that I can not play the game.

At this point I almost wish he'd just give us what Botany has. At least that requires some player interaction.

D: I really hope, despite it all, that fishing will be viable and entertaining, if "relaxing". If fish are a recipe in anything, then we know we will have a market to sell to, we can say that much (right????).
