Well where I'm getting at is.. I can check my e-mail on multiple computers, phones, tablets, etc.. So if my home ISP is Comcast, I have to worry about not getting e-mails even when I'm at work on a different internet service? That's what I'm not understanding. Unless comcast has an e-mail also that I don't know about. If so, I get it lol.

Their email is @comcast.net(or .com). When emails come into your mailbox, ie in Comcast's servers, they decide this email is spam and delete it. So when you check your mail, it's not there. They delete it before it really even hits your inbox.

Should always ask if you want certain email marked as spam, but that would be too much work for some people so the filters are automatic most of the time.

Ooooh.. Okay. I thought comcast was an ISP and usually most ISP's do offer e-mail. Herp-derp. I'm a dummy.

Most ISPs have e-mail service integrated with their internet service. A lot of people will use their ISP's e-mail for more personal things. That, and some websites don't allow registration with free e-mail providers.

What? I have never seen any website not allow registration.

They're pretty rare, and to be honest I don't remember the name of the last one I registered on that wouldn't allow like a hotmail/yahoo/gmail account. I just know I've seen it before and that's why having an e-mail account with your ISP can be helpful in some cases.

They exist, mostly because some email providers has a nasty habit of blocking websites from sending emails to prevent spam altogether. Normally you'd find Hotmail/Live and Gmail blocked from signups if at all.

Yeah i've seen one or two places that wouldn't allow Hotmail/Yahoo/GMail and the like. I've honestly forgotten the reason, but I think it had something to do with some sort of verification.
