I have a feeling that since they said they are "doing their best" to meet the deadline for beta start instead of saying straight out they are on schedule, that beta will be late, but only slightly. It wouldn't suprise me if it started around the time of the Live letter or the following week.

While I agree it is unprofessional to stray from the Roadmap. but in all honestly a roadmap is a "projection" what they would like to see happen from point A to point B. Delay will and can happen ( yes even the start date of beta can have a delay). A Roadmap is nothing more then: If everything goes as planned this roadmap is 100% correct.

However, a Roadmap can Shorten/Lengthen if there's a problem that causes a delay, or everything is going great that some parts of the Roadmap is Shortened.

I do feel that they are on time with Beta for mid-Feb ( considering the positive outlook they have).

I am going with my gut and believe that we will see Beta at least by the 25th of this month. The Live Letter is on the 22nd, and they said beta would come very shortly after the letter. So the 25th sounds like a safe date for me, but I could always be wrong.

Roadmaps very rarely work out exactly as we'd like them to. It's a projection of where you think you'll be, even if you give yourself a lot of wiggle room, you can end up not reaching your goal. I doubt they're giving themselves much extra padding, with how tight the schedule is. This is why you usually don't see roadmaps from developers, and why games usually aren't announced until the date is set in stone, because if the consumer knew how often developers missed their targets, and had expectations based on those targets, they would be upset all the time.

It's not necessarily that the developers are bad for not hitting their targets, it's that unexpected things happen, and when things are tight, as they undoubtedly are on ARR as it comes down to the wire, there's nothing to gain by giving yourself a lot of legroom, it's better to aim high and fall just a little short.

Beta Date is being released on the "regular letter" not the live letter.

To be fair Star-chan, it said "letter" meaning it COULD be the written one, or the live one. Either way, it'll be soon enough.

I think he would have said live letter if he meant the live letter >.>; The evidence supports it being the normal letter, since he said (in his most recent letter) that he would post it in his next letter, and in that post he said he was working on it. If you recall, the last live letter had people from alpha bouncing around with Yoshi. I wouldn't be surprised if this live letter will also show people playing beta with him. Maybe his normal letter will come out tomorrow as a nice little valentines treat, and beta will start this weekend. A girl can hope :3! Or maybe benchmark this weekend and beta start Monday. We shall see. Either way, it will be very very soon so let's channel our excitement in a positive way

I have a source and they say in the Next letter ( which he said yesterday that a Normal Letter is coming bundled with the Beta Start date) Now you maybe right that it can start on the 25th which is fine also. However, people are saying " Live Letter= Beta date release" when in fact it's coming in the Normal letter. If they wanted to release it at the live letter they would have said " Live letter" and not just letter.
