TESO the biggest rival for ARR?

They in fact do have official boards. They're temporary boards, yes, and for some unimaginable reason not linked to on the main site, but yes there are official boards. They're using the Bethesda boards for the time being.

Thanks a lot Balbanes! I do hope that each game will feed off the other's innovation to create a better experience for players and I'm glad that most posters here don't see this as a FFXIV v TESO discussion, but will most likely be players of both games.

I have a feeling that Yoshi-P has a few as-yet-to-be-disclosed secrets up his sleeve though!

I usually give up an Elder Scrolls game after several hours out of pure annoyance that the character models and animations seem entirely out of place.. The world always looks incredible, but the characters feel like they've been designed by a completely different studio .. I'm aware that a lot of people love the Elder Scroll character models/animations though, so it might just be I'm too picky.

That said, Elder Scrolls Online is basically done by a different studio, so I expect the modelling and animation to be different as well (plus that they can't go all out on the details). I also love DAoC and played it a LOT, so I'm quite interesting to see what ESO is going to be like. If it's getting PvP/RvR like in DAoC, I'll definitely play it, but I'm doubtful it will because most current MMO players expect rewards for everything they do, so there'll be little to no PvP/RvR for the sake of PvP/RvR...


That said, I'm a FF fan, so I'll definitely be playing ARR (as long as I can get myself to stop playing FFXI around the time ARR releases )

Elder Scroll comes out with commercial on Super Bowl, and FFXIV doesn't, then I'll say TESO will have a bigger pool of players at launch.

nobody's going to care how many people you had on launch, if you can hold at least 100000 people after 3 months then you've pretty much succeeded.

I feel like it's going to turn out a lot like The Old Republic, people are going to mass flock to TESO because it's that IP, but will get bored of it and move on. What does it mean for ARR? Possibly a slow relaunch with people gradually coming in over the first months.

HELL NO. XD Most people think their models are crap, they have gotten better actually since Fallout but they are still not all that great. This is why the Eldescrolls has the strongest modding community I've ever seen for games, you mod those models and those animations to your little heart's desire.

That's the real strength of those games something the online version will not have, so it remains to be seen how that will work out. Considering they still don't have any closeups of any of their characters yet it's pretty worrisome...

I've never played a TES game for its character models and animations. They suck.

Just like the above poster says.. horrible lol. I thank modders for improving character models and animations to a point. But you just dont play TES for that - you arent picky, its bad lol.

Err..the fact it's Elder Scrolls and a line of successful (though buggy as shit) RPGs pretty much gives it a bigger pool in the west alone.

Lol! Ya, there are way more Elder Scrolls games than Final Fantasy games.

Possibly.. but TESO may suck also. It's too early to tell. I signed up for the beta, but I plan on playing FFXIV regardless.
