    How quick you forget.

"We're removing directional combos as it would be hard to do for PvP."

"We've made spell cancelling when moving because it would unbalance PvP otherwise."

They've already demonstrated that they're adjusting the whole the game to fit PvP better. Water has a knockback effect, what would this do realistically in PvE? Almost nothing in the long run because of not only GCD but it's unlikely bosses will change if you can knock them back or not.

This was not an issue in FFXI- They did not redesign WHM or BRD to be better at beating people up for instance. These classes that are not the best at direct combat are sitll valuable to have in PvP for their party roles. That being said, even in 1.0 FFXIV, with no PvP in the picture, all classes were at least competent in combat to the extent that they can all solo- and that's as far as it needs to go.
Indeed, but PvP was a side activity and implemented as a mini-game of sorts, here it's being implemented with a focus and as said, they already demonstrated they're doing global changes for it.

Every MMO does it that has a serious form of PvP, ARR will as well.

PvP will increase the playerbase which will result in much more funds for SE. If they do it successfully and not like FFXI's PvP I for one can't wait to play it along with mostly the huge playerbase that will come to this game for it. I don't think SE cares what most people in this thread think, they care about the players that will most likely come to this game for it to make them revenue.

    1) direcitonal combos sucked, it's good that they were removed.

    2) The funny thing about the spell cancelling is it makes it more like the way things were in XI, and it is a good balance decision for PvE too. Casting non-instant spells on the run was silly in the first place.

These were smart gameplay decisions, and they made PvE better.

They've already demonstrated that they're adjusting the whole the game to fit PvP better.
They haven't demonstrated this at all. Making improvements to allow for PvP doesn't necessarily make PvE worse, and you're jumping to conclusions. Players of either content should be able to switch to the other and not go "holy shit this is like a totally different game..." because all the rules, spells and abilities are different.

It's totally fine for you not to like PvP, but it's not fine for you to say that PvP only comes at the expense of PvE and therefore shouldn't exist,

PvP was throroughly implemented in FFXI, it wasn't just a side activity. If it was actually rewarding, people would have done it a lot. Ballista had many PvP accomodations- changing melee attack ranges, scaling damage, adjusting resistances, certain abilities had different effects, etc. They didn't just turn players into attackable targets and say "here you go, have fun."

And, whether or not you feel they're making 'global changes" for PvP, those changes don't have to harm PvE- Both can benefit.

Being able to move and cast at the same time was pretty dumb, and I expected thet would take it out eventually.

Being hit with ball of magic water sounds like it'd result in a knockback. Leaves room for other additional effects from magic, along that sort of thinking - If you cut someone up with wind magic, they might bleed. If you hit a piece of bread with fire magic, it suddenly becomes toast.

    Makes sense to me.

I personally am so excited ti try out pvp in arr. So much in pvp has been ruined by baffling decisions on balancing and not subtle problems either.

If they manage ti make a great pvp system it would make the game do so well!
