I see the Imperials unleashing a new weapon called "Ultima Weapon."
So let me get this right, a gunblade is based on a sword so it HAS to be a GLA/PLD weapon, but a rapier which is also a sword HAS to be a RDM weapon. Yes I know that it is traditionaly a RDM weapon, but there is a huge flaw in your logic here.

A gunblade is a specialist weapon, whilst it is a sword it requires someone who knows how to use it, not just any sword wielder so it could go to another class.

for the bow-harp, the bow is a weapon and the harp... well... an instrument.
could also glue a cooking pot to an Axe and provide your party with tasty meals during fight.

doing buffs with a Bard instead of damage-only with an Archer doesn't change the combat style?
    lolwut?

the only question would be - if musketeer class would have a gunblade job, what the role for party play would be. probably increased damage by combining range attacks and close combat.
Sure the bard has to stop to cast songs but the style of combat does not change hes still a bow user fighting at range. Your talking about a gun user changing from long range specialist firing guns to close combat fighter swinging a sword. Just because the weapon has gun in its name does not automatically make it work with a class that specialises in guns.

Exactly a gunblade is too different from both Musketeer and Gladiator weapons for either of them to just pick up.

    No.

I'm talking about a range class that still does range damage with the gunblade but gets a few job-only skills involving the blade.

btw. let's not forget Musketeer comes from Musket. And we know that it was quite common in history to affix a bayonet to a musket.

which is in fact... a blade.

    A bayonet was ment for stabbing not swinging and was a last resort, we wont see eye to eye we both want opposite things.... ^^';;

I dont think making a gun class makes sense. There are blades and spears and guanlets - maybe there is a gun axe dunno.

That is very convoluted (armory system) to make a gun melee wielding class, and if you restrict it to just "blades" then you just left out the other types (while still confusing the system since its also a GLD type weapon).

I think gun modified weapons should belong to their specific class like gunscimtar is for blue mage, gunblade for gld, gun spear for lancer, ect ect.

You can still add abilities to the weapon - just add a tab for item abilities in the skill sheet page.

For logic into how a non-gun class learns how to use guns I was thinking of some cross class/job passive system, perhaps you can have the musketeer unlock a passive you can equip to other classes (increases fire damage by 5% and allows use of firearm modified weapons).

In that way you are not screwing up the job weapon organization (not that I would be sad to see the armory system drastically change or anything.... *whistles* lol)
