If not changing the clock to real time, I'd rather nothing be done at all. Right now, if events are going to be frequently based on time of day, I'd rather have to wait 1 hour to do it than 2 or 3.Let not debate here about making the day/night cycles match real life, localized or not. There was actually a separate thread started for that.
This thread is about lengthening it from the 10 minutes it was in 1.0 to a few hours to allow for a greater immersion while still allowing all players to see both day/night during the times they play. Again, this would be staggered so that if you play at the same time every night you wouldn't see the same pattern.
I can see this is a concern of a lot of people, as several monster spawns/events were based on time of day in 1.0. Definitely if the day/night cycles lengthened it wouldn't be feasible to have monsters that spawned "only at night" or "only during the day". We could still have time based spawns however. For example monsters that spawn at certain in-game hours.
This would cause certain players who can only get online during the day or only at night, to always be in the dark or in the light. I would hate this!!
I wanna see even the day (or the night) not always just one of two >.< I play only from 18.00 to 00.00 GMT+1 >.< i wanna see time change in game D:

And many, many people have posted exactly why this wouldn't be a good idea. I don't have a problem with slowing time passage, but I can honestly say that it has never been a concern to me, or anyone else I have talked to in game.
With a 2.5 or so hour daytime you would see more than one day/night transition during your playtime. Plus since its staggered you wouldn't see the same cycle every night even though you played at the same time.
It's very obvious that a real time clock is a bad idea.. Always has been imo. That's why most games won't even consider it.. You can't tell half your player base, they will only be able to play at night time or daytime..
Too much time without Final Fantasy XIV, and people start complaining even about Night/Day time duration... It has NEVER been a problem. Sometimes thinking too much hurts.![]()
No, it wouldn't cause that, unless you work/sleep the exact same 23 hours a day and could only play the same hour every day. In which case, you already don't have time for an MMO in the first place.
It was really more of a suggestion than a complaint. Both the OP and me are making suggestions. We're not complaining that what we have now is terrible, we're just coming up with ideas as to how we think we could make it better.Too much time without Final Fantasy XIV, and people start complaining even about Night/Day time duration... It has NEVER been a problem. Sometimes thinking too much hurts.
