SE talked with microsoft about a 360 version, but could't get an agreement about xbox live policy. With this there was no 360 version planned. You can say XBox Live killed Final Fantasy XIV 360.

yeah i remember reading something about ffxiv on 360 and the xbox live service along with the subscription fee were at the root of the problem as to why 360 will or will not get ffxiv. I think Microsoft even wanted a cut from SE with the subs from the 360 users not just the box sales i guess. But its whatever to me were most likely gonna have a big player base from the ps3 alone and if 14 ever gets released on xbox then we will have even more ppl.
The Wii U is certainly capable of the game, but that doesn't mean they're even considering it. And the PS3 was third place this generation. They're not going to do any better upsetting people on the PS4 leaving compatibility out. The Wii U isn't just compatible with basically all Wii games, it's also compatible with all the Wii controllers and accessories. That might mean something if we could expect XIV to be ported to the next PlayStation. Meanwhile, there's no PS3 port for XI.
It would certainly not be the first time that an announced game or port of a game was cancelled before its release.
Latest speculation has the next PlayStation having pretty much nothing in common with the PS3, meaning it may not be backwards-compatible. And if S-E is really keen on writing new versions for completely different platforms, the Wii U is already out.

I also read how 360 was nixed to xbox live. I get mad with xbox live, I never really wanted it but I think it's silly I have to give microsoft another $60 a year to play my netflix when I don't have to with any other console netflix is a part of. That being said it would also fustrate me to pay them to play for 14 and im pretty sure I never needed Xbox live for my XI 360 disk.

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~

Because you don't need Live for XI, so far as i've understood it. Reason behind that is MS used it to help get the console name out and get more users on it. But now? They have a large user base, and want to keep their system closed... and paid for.I also read how 360 was nixed to xbox live. PS3 just recently passed Xbox 360 for total systems sold. The Wii U is certainly capable of the game, but that doesn't mean they're even considering it. And the PS3 was third place this generation. Yea you just need silver account (free) to play FFXI, this was when MS was trying to get SE to make games for their system to they could better appeal to the Japaense market.
Fast forward to now where MS charges for everything, want to use Netflix, Youtube, or Internet Explorer, download most new game demos on 360 then you got to pay for live. SE couldn't even work out an agreement with MS for FFXIV so it can't even be released, they said it was live issues or something.
While we're on the topic about Microsoft closed online policy. Even CCP, the company that made Eve Online tried making a deal with Microsoft to develop Dust 514 on the xbox360 but they couldn't.
DQX, an MMO for the Wii and Wii-U. No PC version. No need. The Wii and Wii-U will easy last the lifespan of the game. Which will be 10 to 15 years from now. Now PC gaming, that entirely depends on if World of Warcraft is still exclusive to PCs (and of course Macs). If WoW reaches the end of it's lifespan, or more likely moves to a different platform, PC gaming will take a nose dive and PC gaming will be no more. With the cards already stacked against the PS3 version, and with the history of FFXI showing that support for console versions will get axed well before the PC version, why is Square-Enix bothering with releasing the PS3 version of the game at all at this point? And why should players make the commitment of buying the PS3 version when history shows they'll just have to move to the PC eventually anyway?
Anyone whose says PC gaming will never die, let's talk in fifteen years and see.
