Honestly though, the two main reasons I suggest people watch subbed over dubbed. One, it's pretty easy to get used to reading the subs quickly. Second, MOST, not all, just most, anime i've seen dubbed, the voice acting was garbage. You just don't get the same experience.

Course, learning Japanese would be the best way. Still working on that one myself.

I'm blind so reading the subtitles would require many pauses aswell as excessive reading causes me to get extreme headaches due to the strain I have to put on my eyes to "focus" my way through. I'll stick with dubs until I speak Japanese fluently enough to kick back and listen.

I like the ending of ALO thou, making it possible to connect your single avatar character in many MMO because all the MMO is base on the same back bone of SAO.

I enjoy both ALO and SAO part but ALO just felt weak due to kirito not being as strong as he was in SAO due to the fact that death does not happen in ALO. Kirito pretty much become Neo in SAO unlocking powers that the game did not have in the sense the game allow things to happen outside of what there but still he pretty much neo lol in that sense. I did enjoy one fight that he had in ALO where he use two sword but there just not that many fight the storyline i did enjoy a lot but SAO was just little stronger due to the death part.

The seed thing was awesome i did enjoy that it pretty much made all games equal that be cool if mmo was like that in real life lol.

Overall i hope FFXIV sell out at release but it may not happen there just way to many MMO in the market today let's hope it still does great and if SAO make sell go crazy in japan then that awesome

This. 1000 Times this. Most western localization companies replace Japanese star actors carrying a truckton of experience with badly directed newbies and very mediocre, badly fitting voices in order to keep costs down.

I share your sentiment, Sir Dragoon D: It takes me forever to read books/textbooks and I usually have to stop after a short while because of straining and headaches XD I'll watch some things subbed, but it's usually not a preference for me.

Straight-to-DVD dubs aren't as terrible as what they were when dubs were first being produced back in the day. They've significantly improved. That being said, I usually get pelted with rocks when I say sub isn't all that much of a better experience. It's mostly the weaboos and purists that scream "OMG JAPANESE ORIGINAL OR GTFO" that annoy me. It also really depends on which language you're exposed to it first.

For me, shows like Evangelion, and Slayers, those to me are great dubs. I've tried to watch them in Japanese and they're just meh. Sure the acting is great and all, but I just prefer to hear the dialogue in English. Same with Sailor Moon and Saint Seiya, I was exposed to those shows in Spanish so the Japanese versions really don't strike me as interesting or worthy of all the worship people claim.

There are great dubs and really bad ones and the bad ones are still around. Exactly man!! It's those same people that scream bloody murder when a professional company subs a show and they're like "THATS NOT WHAT HE SAID!" How do these people even know what's being said if they're not fluent in said language? Ah right, because unprofessional fansubbers deem it so! Not trying to knock fansubbers by any means, but these "purists" that cry foul that the companies are "wrong" just make me want to /facepalm

Same with voice acting. I've actually gotten headaches from trying to watch Sailor Moon in Japanese because of the forced high-pitched voices of the 5 main girls...then it gets worse when they scream or shriek or otherwise vocalize in anything but normal dialogue. That to me is not "stellar" production. Mitsuishi Kotono voices Sailor Moon, and Misato Katsuragi from Evangelion. Different as night and day, and her performance on Sailor Moon is overdone and reeeeally annoying. But! There are people who treat Japanese dubs as the holy grail and will dismiss English dubs because they're not spouting the weeabo vocabulary like "-ttebayo!" or "oro?" /rant off

Sorry >_> I've just been reeeeeeally turned off by the anime community since it entered the digital distribution age because of said things. The idea that one has to worship the Japanese culture and eat pocky while screaming "kawaii" and "baka" is just... <_<a

I get annoyed with dubbing for anime and video games mostly when i hear a voice actor i've heard in just about every other anime/video game... Just completely breaks my immersion when i have to go oh that voice actor again.... they use the same old actors far too much.

But i agree it can be really annoying when the voice actor just doesnt fit the character.

People hate lymle English voice cause she says 'Kay a a lot but are totally fine with her jp actor saying something annoying at the end or start of everything she says. Don't get me wrong tho some shows i like in jp more like comedy cause the humor is not lost, I also still love subs as well will watch them i am a fast reader.

Ya that's the kind of stuff that really grates me LOL It's cool for them to repeat stuff endlessly in JP like Kenshin's "oro", but heaven forbid they do that in English.

Of course there is TERRIBLE English dubs, I don't deny that (I still haven't forgiven Nelvana for killing Cardcaptor Sakura), but there are more good English dubs out there than what was being produced 10 yrs ago.
