People like to talk about how they will be a valuable tester, but they all share a common feeling with those who might not be. As if its a job and as if they had not gone through the in house testing professionals.

Whether you go in and do what is outlined or not, when you are shut out, at least admit it was because you missed and early preview of the experience. Not an accusation, but the truth.
You have a very personal idea of "the truth". Again I have to encourage you not to push your own feelings and ideas of a testing phase on everyone else.

Just because something makes sense *for you* it doesn't mean that everyone else, or even the majority, feels the same way.

I'm quite sure you're not blessed with level 5 mind reading yet.

I know that you're combating my posts just for the sake of it. That's okay. It would have to be the truth because if not for the fact that people are simply really into the Final Fantasy series, and Final Fantasy XIV specifically, you would not have testers OR people passionate enough to feel discouraged when they are not selected.

We're pointing out what is already evident. I just wish people would stop pretending to go into A Realm Reborn citing it to be a super serious task to contribute and NO WAY ARE THEY GOING TO ENJOY THE GAME NOR ARE THEY EXCITED TO TRY OUT AN EARLY VERSION!

Although, it's highly annoying to have people selected who you know aren't going to contribute a lick, let's just look at why they wanted to participate in the first place. They are interested and anxious to try the game out and preview it. Just like everyone else; including testers. It's slightly hypocritical to bash this type of player.

But also at the same time it's sad from all sides, in my opinion, to be upset in any way from being shut out. They have plenty of testers for their stress testing. Which this alpha is for. Of course, you can contribute your opinions on what little content they have to offer and thoughts on the games controls, but as far as "testing" goes you are basically only outlined to play a really boring early version, content wise, of a realm reborn. It's not worth it. Wait til beta. That's where the money is.

No. I'm "combating" your posts because you're making tall assumptions about people you don't know based on your own set of values.

But also at the same time it's sad from all sides, in my opinion, to be upset in any way from being shut out.
Disappointment is an absolutely natural and instinctive reaction when someone hopes something and that something doesn't happen. The extent of that disappointment depends on the individual.

You have no elements to judge if any individual wanted a free trial of the game or simply wanted to provide his feedback, or a mix of the two, so making generalizations or assumptions is a misrepresentation of people's character.

As some already told you, they supported (financially, morally and with their own creativity and ideas) the creation of A Realm Reborn since it was just an idea, and they feel the need to provide direct feedback so that the game is further shaped how they would like it to be.

Considering the undeniable fact that the later feedback is given, the less it'll have a chance to be effective and influential (as the more a MMORPG nears its release, the more its systems are fossilized upon each other giving less wiggle room for change), getting into the beta and being able to give feedback there may not be sufficient for many that supported the game since the beginning and until now, especially considering that they saw themselves excluded in favor of people that refused to provide that support (IE: they quit).

The fact that *other* people are providing their feedback (pushing the game towards what *they* would like it to be) has really no bearing to that, as quality in a MMORPG is largely subjective.

The fact that some people exist that just wanted a free demo doesn't mean that ALL are like that, making your assumptions quite void and honestly not exactly polite.

But hey, keep assuming if it makes your boat float.
