Honestly, why am I even wasting my time in here. SEs paying attention to actual feedback regarding the game, including Sprint, in the Alpha forums. Not here. For good reason too. Even if not all, most people are gonna change their opinions after getting their hands on it so why bother when you've got actual testers?

Something tells me people have nothing bad to say about Sprint in there.

Well they're paying attention to my feedback too. They pay attention to everyone's feedback.

My next thread I'm going to have a no-argument policy. No matter how belligerent, stupid, or crazy you are, no matter how many times you show poor perspective or low reading comprehension, we are going to stay on topic! After all after going back and forth the best you can say it try it out and the hell with it, even though the points raised in the OP won't magically go away no matter how much I like a feature. And guess what, I do like the general idea. Not everything revolves around how much you like something.

It kind of leaves you with this disconnect from the social experience. If everyone is just walking around it's easier to to check them out and have more of that MMO experience.
Just curious. Do you toggle walk a hundred percent of the time when you play an MMO? If not, how can you possibly complain about people running around everywhere?

For that matter, did you have an issue with Fists of Wind or Swiftsong? I'm sure anyone in Alpha will tell you that Sprint gives a speed boost comparable to those two skills. So I hardly think you'll see people darting around at Sonic the Hedgehog speeds.

Also, Sprint is situationally useful. As even you yourself pointed out, it can be used in the same capacity as a Flee ability.

Could you tell me again exactly why you have a problem with it? The reasons in your original post seem frivolous, and you haven't expounded upon them in any meaningful way throughout the course of this thread.

Why is this an issue? Seriously, I don't get it. For long distance, on-foot travel you'll use mounts. For short distance on-foot travel you'll use sprint/run. In dungeons, due to the TP part of the ability it probably won't be viable to use outside of a few situations, at least I hope we're not running all the way through dungeons ignoring everything again.

We don't know how many abilities we'll end up having so the "it's taking up a valuable action bar slot" argument is kind of silly. Could it have been mapped to some sort of button command? Possibly but there are other risks there as well. If it's on the double-tap direction function then you might accidentally activate it during battle or some other inopportune time. Moving it to its own button would work fine for keyboards but not for gamepads, they're already strapped for buttons as it is. Personally I already use L3 (in 1.0) for auto-run, and R3 for perspective change.

Comparing it to another game is all well and good but you still don't know 100%, completely definitively how it will work and be used by the players in this game. You can guess and assume but you cannot 100% know until you have played the game yourself. You can make assumptions about how it might affect things but you cannot say you know without a doubt exactly how it will.

How do you know I haven't played the game myself? Have you played the game? Points in the OP are based on the system as it is now.

In counter to your remarkably astute and well-reasoned response, I offer this riposte: I say otherwise. Do I really need to rebut your frivolities point by point? Because I can.

Also, is there a reason you ignored the questions I asked you?

Personally I think Reika's idea would more naturally capture what it is like to sprint. Your stamina slowly depletes as you do it rather than use auto-eating your entire ability to do anything else
He must think people will be some kind of gods or something by doing it the other way, or ignoring the fact that steady drain sprint still uses TP in my examples, the same amount of tp as All-TP sprint would. Using the one-shot sprint in battle takes all your tp down to 0 from wherever it was at, giving you x seconds of sprtin. Using the steady drain sprint would steadily drain your tp with no regen until you stop sprinting. In either case that tp would have gone to weaponskills, but instead went towards running away.

What I really want to know is what THEY want sprint to be used for. I havent heard anything of the sort from the horses mouth yet. Just a lot of assuming one knows what they want it to be used for.

OT: I don't see anything wrong with sprint myself, but I can think of ways to make it more effective.

You know, it would really suck if you click or hit the sprint macro button by accident while in engage in combat, and poof there goes all your TP.. Wouldn't that piss you off? It would piss me off..
Thats one of the reasons why it should be a steady drain instead of an all-at-once skill.

If you are an alpha tester, then post it in the alpha test forums. This really isn't the place for alpha feedback. Continue pointless debate for another 100 posts so we the lurkers can continue enjoying the futility.

Also for your accounts sake I hope those are screencaps from the video or something, otherwise posting pictures of your own from alpha on imgur is a bantastic offense.
