This one perhaps deserves more attention.
The goldsmith's quest, F'lhaminn's Flower, has the following gossip from the greatloam growery:
So the Botanists suspect an assassination order on Nielle. It is of course speculation on their part, but possibly an informed one?Opyltyl: So it's flowers you want, is it? Drop the pretence. You're embarrassing yourself, and insulting my intelligence. It's obvious the goldsmiths have sent you.
Opyltyl: Our head tender has ordered a ban on the sale of all flowers to any in service of the Eshtaime name.
Opyltyl: There was but one of their kind who respected us and our ways, and he is no more for this world. That Lalafell fiend that styles herself guildmaster there now had him murdered in cold blood. I've no doubt as to that.
The cutscenes don't put a date on Nielle's passing, but at the very least measure it in years. Chrysaliswiki has thankfully kept a record of the rest of the non-cutscene text with this juicy bit:
EDIT: WE HAVE A DATE FOR UL'DAH'S ECHOS!Hnaufrid: Our current guildmaster seems to be getting on well enough with the owner. It was the previous guildmaster who caused all the trouble. They say he conspired with powers in the other nations to topple Lord Lolorito and take Eshtaime's for himself.
From She Walks in Beauty:
If we combine this with the assumption that strife concerned involved the assassination of Nielle, the breaking of Heartstrike (in which the Ossuary had invested) and the dismissal of Nielle's father as guildmaster, we could assume that the echoed scenes indeed align with the lead-up to the Battle of Silvertear Skies.Holbubu: Count yourself lucky that you were not here some ten years ago, to suffer the strife which engulfed Eshtaime's Aesthetics.
In our darkest hour, there was a very real danger that the Order of Nald'thal would seize our name and assets.
