Yes they do from the very beginning. Gridania is more clear as you even get light headed before following E-sumi to Gridania and you hear the last bit of "answers song" whereas in Ul'dah is only petals flying and Limsa Lominsa is the sight of the Sea Serpent.

Was it ever questioned that the Circle of Knowing posses the Echo? I remember Moose talking about Y'shtola using the Echo multiple times to make you think shes warping around ..or maybe that's one of her powers ...she can be wherever she wants to be. Anyways in the Gridania intro Papalymo understand Mooglespeak so he doesn't just posses the Echo he got the extra gift.

You mean the race that lives hundreds of years? lol i think he had time to learn it whereas Papalymo is not that old but maybe you are right . now that i think about it we take with us Papalymo and Yda into an Echo where we witness the kid setting the tree on fire and when we get out of it they don't know what just happened, Papalymo realizes its a power but not theirs and then he looks at you.

It is quite clear that Yda and Papalymo have the echo from the first time you meet them, although they do not appear to be aware of it until the second starshower when you do an echo-jump together with them.

I'm about to go and replay the grid quests by restarting my alt character. We'll see if I can get any extra new juicy lore drops on the non-cutscene bits. I won't be recording them, but I'll keep a full copy of my chat log.

I'm really keen on digging into the instances where you change history, such as that musket going missing thing or, in Ul'dah, selling your flower to Nielfressne. (or doing something significant enough to create a proper paradox and knock you unconcious like making sure Fye finds Dunstan)

I've just recently recorded the scene with selling the lfower in Ul'Dah Catapult. (and am in the process of recording everything)
That really threw me for a loop. The flower you acquire is almost clearly acquired within the Echo (it happens after the starshower), but yet you try to sell it outside of it, and when you sell (AFTER the Esthaime shopkeep looks at it and comments on it) it's inside the echo to Niellefresne, and then after that echo-jump is done the shopkeep asks for the merchandise again and notices you already sold it?! And then proceeds to comment on how flowers are rare.
I had no idea wth was going on there, you brought a flower from the past by echo-jumping?

You also do it with a baloonfish in the Limsa quest and a Treant Vine in the Gridania quest, albeit with no jumping about during the sale part.
