Yes, thank you for FF lore! FF always carries so much emotion within the story lines and with its characters. I will continue to support the devs as they delve into the making of ARR. The creators of the Final Fantasy franchise has always brought us phenomenal game content. Even though there have been major set backs with this game, I think it's time to show loyalty towards the previous games that we have loved and to have faith for what is to come!

i think your getting lore and story mixed up, i'm pretty sure this game is about as loreless as it gets. the story however was well played and very well strung together with the old dev story(at the sake of what little lore there was.)

for there crafty manipulation of story, i say bravo and good job SE.

Unfortunately I am not as knowledgeable lore-wise as I would like to be, but it is nice to play in a world with a deep and intricate background.

I have to disagree that it is loreless. The lore is just being made as we go along. The story us establishing lore as it goes and that is awesome. We grow in the game along with its lore.

The deep engaging story will aid in this games ability to carry on through the years and link together good story after good story. So just because the lore is being established as we go, it doesn't mean it's not there and that it isn't well do e

your making it up because it does not exist, your trying to use the story to make pieces of lore that fit where they belong. its called fan fiction, many manga and anime series that were discontinued or concluded have fans dedicated to picking the story apart for understanding so they can continue the story.

a world with alot of lore is far more interesting than any without, look at the Elder scrolls that game is lore central.

While i think Elderscrolls actually have great lore, it is somewhat taken from other media like any other story today. FF has great lore taken from Norse mythology, Japanese mythology and so on. It has a tradition. For an example, we all know that when picking up a new FF game from the store we will see chocobos, moogles, cactuars, Ifrit, Shiva and so on.

yes but lore defines objects, take for instance goblins they change almost every game, but what do we actually know about FFXIV goblins.

we know that there friendly, why? what makes these goblins so different than the goblins in XI that would train your ass right into another pile of goblins? this is lore that isnt explained, we can only deduce there friendly from the fact that we know they used to trade with the city states. which leads to another question, Why did they stop trading in the first place?

this seemingly useless background information is the difference between understanding and confusion when it comes to the world around you. when i see a goblin you know what comes to mind, Goblin Long Sword = 40k thats it that all there good for. a beast race with a seemingly eirre story to tell, yet no one who will tell it.

Except they have been explained Valmonte. You just missed it. It wasn't the goblins who stopped trading with the city-states but the other way around. Sylphs and Goblins and Qiqirn were all in the city until Ul'dah turned them out when the Empire attacked trying to kill the beast tribes. It was simultaneously a way to help try to remove the target from their backs as well as reduce competition for their wares.

Goblins are not aggressive because they don't summon primals. Only the beastmen that summon primals will aggro you. The rest don't. To find out why, I suggest you go back and watch the cutscenes and really pay attention this time.

I think, for what we had, it was filled with enough lore to wet the appetite. Most of my time was spent in the Black Shroud and I came to learn about certain areas and the lore of that region. Lore in my opinion came from the sidequests which enriches the world. For example, if you do the exploration quest, you find out that there was once a great city under the Black Shroud that was destroyed by Garlemald. The entrances to underground caverns are actually openings to the city. One of the interesting things is that if you travel down to the Tam-tam Deepcroft, on the lower levels you find undead warriors. Whether these two things are just coincidence or related, remains to be seen.

I agree that there could have been more lore added. Having a couple of quests tied to an area would definitely have helped build the lore of it. But taking everything into consideration I guess it was enough to wet the tongue.
