yes but lore defines objects, take for instance goblins they change almost every game, but what do we actually know about FFXIV goblins.

we know that there friendly, why? what makes these goblins so different than the goblins in XI that would train your ass right into another pile of goblins? this is lore that isnt explained, we can only deduce there friendly from the fact that we know they used to trade with the city states. which leads to another question, Why did they stop trading in the first place?

this seemingly useless background information is the difference between understanding and confusion when it comes to the world around you. when i see a goblin you know what comes to mind, Goblin Long Sword = 40k thats it that all there good for. a beast race with a seemingly eirre story to tell, yet no one who will tell it.

Except they have been explained Valmonte. You just missed it. It wasn't the goblins who stopped trading with the city-states but the other way around. Sylphs and Goblins and Qiqirn were all in the city until Ul'dah turned them out when the Empire attacked trying to kill the beast tribes. It was simultaneously a way to help try to remove the target from their backs as well as reduce competition for their wares.

Goblins are not aggressive because they don't summon primals. Only the beastmen that summon primals will aggro you. The rest don't. To find out why, I suggest you go back and watch the cutscenes and really pay attention this time.

While i think Valmonte is wrong about saying the game is "as loreless as it gets" I do agree that we need more backstory on for an example goblins since you brought it up. I hope SE expect this demand and that we should "look forward to it" as they so delicately put it.

but its not just goblins, that chocobo illness that made me hike it every were on the map for a better part of a year what every happen with that? the one patch and a chocobo mount to late it turns out it wasn't an illness but ishgarde being stingy little feather hoarders. something else that was never explained. most of the lore was indeed land related and didn't come until after jobs were released.

Wait a second. Were some users saying that lore doesn't exist in this game, or that it was made up as content was added?

    What the balls?

These people have never been to the Localization forum and read one of the many posts from Fernehawlkes.

    Think Old Testament fear.
They also know that if they were to summon it, it would basically cloud their minds with evil. Which is why the beastmen that have done so are aggressive, moreso than they have been before. And it could even cause adventurers to go mad if their mind is not prepared when entering a lair.

Notice how the beastmen that can summon primals are Aggresive, but the ones that haven't are Passive?

There's plenty of lore explanations in game. The most notable one was Professor Erik who explains more history as you proceed in the MNK questline. The biggest lore bomb when the Jobs came out was the reveal that the dragon in the Opening Cinematic was actually Midgardsormr.

And NPCs in instances always have a wealth of information you don't normally get to see in the cutscenes.

While I do think that there is need of a bit of backstory in certain areas of the game. I think the writers at SE are doing a fantastic job crafting a story with a deep background to it. I feel that the revealing of this background information is opened to us at a pace that allows us to delve into it while the story moves forward. Consider the Allag Empire, an entity we all knew very little about, but now if you piece bits together there is actually a lot to take in. Yet we are left wanting more, which keeps is right in the palm of the writer's hands.

This is a good thing. It keeps me wanting more FFXIV. I for one can't wait to step back into Eorzea.
