Thank you for an MMO with deep lore

The more and more I read little tid bits of information from the website and various dev points, the more excited I am to hop in to this game and experience the compelling lore behind this game.

The fact that this game is throwing so many allusions to other entries of the franchise is absolutely fantastic. And I feel that this MMO above all others has the ability to not only pull us in to an engaging game experience but also immerse us in an epic story.

The fact that this lore was made on the fly is not only a testament to the abilities of this dev team but also the wonder that is the final fantasy franchise and I hope it plays as well as it seems it will and it can shine proudly as a numbered entry in the franchise. So thank you again YoshiP and ffxiv dev team. Keep up the good work and I hope to be enjoying the story you are trying to tell soon!

You can't thank the devs for anything! If you don't act like everything is terrible we'll just end up with 1.0 again, obviously!

In all seriousness though, the devs did do a really good job with this. I don't think I've ever really cared about an MMO's world as much as I do this one.

I just try to give credit where credit is due. like Arcell said, I actually care about this world and the fact that they actually destroyed their own world to remake it a new shows great pride in not only their product but their vision as story tellers. This is unprecedented in the MMO space as far as I am aware and I hope it pays dividends to reward this vision. It may push the industry to not give up on their games so quickly and just close em up or put em on life support like so many companies do.

Indeed, I'm looking forward to a long tenure in eorzea. Hopefully SE gives me reason to throw my money at them for years

Well, it's kinda generic in comparison to what was being woven in 1.0 with Tanaka. I really am not expecting anything too interesting, basic FF story about the ancient civilizations and the gods and how the earth-mother must be preserved etc. 1.0 was going to be interwoven with politics, shades of grey, and the world lore was looking to be much more personalized.

FFXI had a huge deal of mysterious lore, and left a lot of things to your imagination while supplying just enough to give you an idea of what you were a part of. I got that sentiment from so many of the abandoned spots in the 1.0 zones, the greatest tragedy of 1.0 is that none of it will ever bear fruit.

The one thing I am looking forward to, with this lore team in particular, is their communication with the fans directly and hopefully a mandate to explain the events unfolding in far more informative terms. It may not be as "mysterious" or "organic" lore, but it will be significantly more fleshed out.

I think of games like books & movies, if you read/watch enough words/pictures for awhile, in the end you feel like everything entwine. Things tend to getting used. People today find everything boring since any story could be based on something previously made. We are spoiled with great stories already told. This goes for content as well. Everything is a copy or resemblance to something else. I draw a tree, you draw a tree. They both look good, but they have the ability to give a different feeling when looking at it.

We have yet to see the mysterious world of Eorzea. A Realm Reborn is a game with blank pages right now. For me, this is a great opportunity to reset our minds. Forget about those other stories.
