Reindeer suit, egg hats, moogle weapons, stabbing a TREE to death.Agree with the OP.
Disagree that the invisible force is not realistic/believable. If there was an invisible force above a tent preventing me from jumping on it, I wouldn't consider that immersion-breaking, I'd consider that all characters automatically understood that would be a dumb thing to do in context, in exactly the same way we can't tear up grass with our bare hands, wield a chair in battle or ride on each others' shoulders.
Standing on a tent isn't relevant to a group of adventurers, so why is the option even there?
I'd say adventurers are quite open to dumb ideas. Jumping on tents seems quite tame.

Talking in the context of the characters that we're playing, not in the context of the players.
The difference between believability and realism was explained pretty well a few pages ago. Realism in context.Seriously though, a lot of people seem to get "I dislike something" with "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER OMG CHANGE IT!" mixed up on these forums. Like, really think about it...how much would the entire game (not just your personal experience) be hurt by allowing players to stand on a tent? We can stand on a fence, or boxes...is that fine? Why is this such a big deal? Realism? Last time I checked, nothing in this game was real, so that's a poor excuse.
On the contrary, I contribute to the discussions on the forums about the things I don't like. I don't get upset when the things I don't like stay in the game if more people like those things than dislike them. I didn't like the idea of "!" appearing above quest-givers, I voiced my opinion, but more forum-users thought it would make a good addition. That's one of the purposes of the forum, so please don't insinuate that if there's something I dislike I should suck it up and deal with it just because that's what you choose to do.
But everyone was aware that it was a minor fuck-up in the game and not by design. Same goes for the 'hovering' a few yalms past the edge of a step. Would have been better if it didn't happen, but was hardly one of the major faults of FFXI.
That haven't had their own threads made and discussed fully? I don't think so. Prove me wrong, start a thread about it.
Yeah, perhaps dumb was the wrong word. Maybe I should have said 'unnecessary'. However, the things you mention still make sense in context of the characters. Except the reindeer suit. Those should be burned.
