I've never seen a game make a town look sufficiently lively. I'd like to see how XIV hopes to achieve this.

Even in GW2, which has NPC's roaming, once you realise they say the same voice lines and follow the same path in a loop the immersion is broken.

We need more players or NPC's with spontaneous patterns.

Agreed npc patterns should be unique and have variables I remember this kid in ffxi that keeps running back and forth in south San D'Oria on an errand keep telling myself man dont you sleep lol and. Know I could see a weekly supply run done that goes restock a vendors on the street and they have there conversations but not everyday spice it up I say.

I wish the NPCs were as lively as the intro cinematic to each city. When I started I remember people unloading payloads off of the boats and people moving supplies around Limnsa. Same goes for Ul'dah. People shopping, trade caravan moving about the city, etc.

Add it to the beta version YoshiP and Team.

Having people go home at night, and having new NPCs come out would be absolutely fantastic. Kinda like Majora's Mask.

I think having certain things only accessible at night (or day) is a cool idea. It makes you actually enjoy the passage of time too.

Think some of it is that it might add considerable amount of memory/lag. Know if they can find a way to prevent it or make it were it npc's etc are not so intrusive on the server that would be great.

No matter how unique NPCs patterns are, they will eventually get "old" to look at overtime. and giving npcs patterns to follow ( and not just one were talking like 50+ npcs per city). That's a pretty hefty coding job with that alone.

As long as they "pretend" to have a conversation with another NPC ( for years and years XD haha) Or Tom NPC walks to Store gets food, then walks back to stump to eat his food, only to walk back to the same store to buy the same food, and eat it at the same place again ( for years and years to come XD). Then I wouldn't mind NPC be "Lively".

Could classify real life as this as well lol. Yes it would acquire allot of coding and attention to needless to say they could possible over the year change it up er say an expansion or as the game goes on. They can do it in small way to change things as they do patches or major updates.

I'm watching you.. Do something new I'm bored.

I do believe Yoshida specifically mentioned they are trying to pay attention to life in the city - but talked aganist important npc schedules as it would be annoying to find them if you didnt know the schedule previously.

I would think if you add npc schedules but then add guards who can help you find someone in particular (through a type in the name / quest) that could remedy the issue.

Funny you should say this. FFXI was all about the attention to the details of the world, as you say: the small things. XIV also pays attention to some small things like making monsters realistic, but then took away some behavior because of cry babies. This is the one problem SE will have if they just stick with making this MMO fit in rather than doing a lot more with it.

Page 1 read my first reply and here you go something new i guess lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viXhp0v1gGY Yea if they used quest npc on random stuff like that it would get confusing to find people they would need to do something like that i suppose.

That and have a random npc come kick us in the junk and we fall flat on our faces in pain as the kid runs off laughing >.>
