The whole boob grab and butt check felt more then sisters to me but maybe thats a female (Japanese?) thing loloh I don't mean by blood no. They state that everyone there is like a family and they refer to themselves as sisters.
That aside, there are LOTS of places in japanese culture in anime with women who have very close relationships but are not lesbians. Additionally, there is always this sense that they are together but they would always welcome a man if the right one came along (which most of the lesbians I know have pointed out and find rather insulting).
(I dont have a strong grasp of Japanese culture so.. I have no idea there hehe)
I addressed it in a similar way in my post (link in sig), though honestly I would love to see instanced player-run ceremonies, not only to get rid of that waiting list lottery crap but those ceremonies were always so stuffy and uptight. Player run would be so much better and would have a lot more freedom without having to step on anyone's toes.I still think something like this is the best solution, and make some of the wedding areas instanced such that you can go in with your own wedding party.
I don't really support gay marriage in real life either as a personal note, but I have advocated getting rid of state sponsored religeon for a long time. Honestly, I think the issue comes down to the use of the word "marriage" to begin with and tying it to religous groups. If you give EVERYONE a civil union based on a non-love, non-sex, contractual agreement as a replacement to marriage certifiicates, I think we would see this problem go away.
That way, people of various religeons or beliefs can get "married" in any way they see fit and the civil union can even be optional.
A similar objective approach in the game would also work, I believe.
I would like to see the term 'marriage' abolished irl too, I think that it's pretty archaic now and the meaning has been marred by too much fighting on all sides... hell I doubt most couples today know what 'the sanctity of marriage' is yet strive so hard to 'protect' it (lawl).
Enough about my irl gripes though and back to the topic at hand!
Player run union ceremonies? oh hells yes!

I find it amazing that people still say "No marriages for anyone because I don't want one". Seriously, what is your problem people? Don't like others to enjoy themselves? As you all keep coining the phrase, I'll use it myself, "It's a game". Maybe you don't understand that other people actually enjoy this s**t? I know I would.
I hope you don't think that is what I meant. I'm married. I just mean that it should be a strictly religeous institution. As such, governing entities (or gaming companies) should create an environment where things like weddings are not systemic so you can be free to create your own without opinions bringing it to a debate. For instance, providing wedding gear that anyone can buy and instanced chapel areas that anyone can create a party and access for whatever your purpose seems like a grand solution. Then there isnt a need for the institution to condemn or condone the practice.I find it amazing that people still say "No marriages for anyone because I don't want one". Not you in particular. I've been skimming past this thread since I left it quite a few pages back and I am referencing those stating: "We shouldn't have marriages at all because I personally don't like the idea." or something along the lines of that.
It's like if I said we shouldn't have new jobs because I don't like them.
I feel you, the amount of selfish and MEFIRST thinking on these forums in general is quite sad.Not you in particular. People seem to forget that while the playerbase may not be overwhelmingly huge, it is certainly diverse and therefore should cater to as many tastes as possible instead of the tastes of just Xxsephirothxx.

Pretty much, not to mention that's not even what the thread's about lol. I mean we know they're adding it, they wouldn't have announced it unless it was a definite. Not you in particular. It's also funny when people act like there are far more important things to discuss on here. Yeah, let's go start another thread about classes when we know very little about how they'll work in 2.0. Totally more important than marriage equality (aka letting all of the game's players use the feature).
I completely agree, it's ridiculous to hear people say this thread is useless.Pretty much, not to mention that's not even what the thread's about lol. I mean we know they're adding it, they wouldn't have announced it unless it was a definite.

I really don't see why people expect them to focus so hard on specific things and have this game so narrow and shallow. Why not add marriage? Because they think it's a waste of dev time to make the game more diverse and interesting? In game marriage can only add to the games diversity and allowing same sex marriage not only add more diversity but would be a PR boost to SE, as the LGBT community is much more widely accepted and common in the MMO community than people think. I'm no expert on marketing, but I just don't see them losing figures over this and the amount of praise they would get for it would be by far more than the backlash. Not only do we have a poll with a highly debated topic here that proves the support and a thread showing support on the JP side (if I recall correctly) but we have actual evidence that MMO's and other games that have same sex marriage get praised for it.
(90 pages... too much to keep up with, lol. Keep up the fight for justice and equality! I want to marry my BF and he's stubborn xD)

Amy Neudaiz: quick question for you.. were is you sig picture from it looks oddly familiar but for the life of me i can't remember.
On topic: just give every one marriage rights, it should not matter if Tank (Elzen (M)) is married to Healer (Elzen (M)) as long as one tanks and the other heals... Like i said we are making a mountain from a mole hill. If there is really that big of a bonus to getting married I'll just make a second account and get married to my self... Wonder what that's called?
Why are people making a big fuzz about this? Instead you should be emailing the Japanese Government to allow Gay marriages, SE answers to them, not anyone else, they can't just do something that the Government does not approve of or allow.
