Yes, there's some new info here. FFXIV players still really care about whether or not same sex characters are allowed to marry.

Anyway, thank you, but we all know that the previous thread was locked because of the flame war that was going on within it AS WELL as the fact that there were no new ideas being proposed. They didn't mention the flame war directly because they (probably) didn't want to point fingers. If SE locked every thread that didn't have any new ideas, there would be no threads to post it to.

So please PLEASE give it a rest with this. If the mods want to lock this thread they will, just let them decide when it needs to be locked, okay?

Well, I suppose standing around doing nothing but drawing magic from mobs is rather MMO-like.

Well, if they did that and kept the mob invasions of Ul'dah, people would have something to do while they wait for shouts to form parties. XD

And I was only half-joking. Was suggesting that maybe they could call it Junction or something, since a lot of players may already be familiar with that term and it's not something that non-FF players would be familiar with as a form of "magical union." (Plus, wouldn't it be neat to see a Roegadyn with a Lala strapped to his chest?)

I just want to find the Vanille to my Fang. Is that too much to ask?!

The only thing that matters to me, as far as in-game marriage goes, is if it offers any benefits to the players. Such as, shared housing, shared inventory, shared gil, etc...

Other than that I don't care if it's same gender or not. You would think people would be more upset with cross-race marriage for other reasons... taru and galka (lalafell and roegadyn).

Actually, I take that back... I would care, and would be more upset if I can't just marry whoever I want just because I chose the wrong gender. Such as, having to re-roll in any game just because you can't unlock a portion of the story because of a different gender... Although slightly different for single player games, it'll receive same negative feedback if there's any benefits attached to marriage.

I have long believed that Taru, or in this case Lalafell, Paladins should be equip-able as shields.

I imagine it will be a system identical to the one in place in XI. There is no benefit or sharing of anything. It is a symbolic gesture towards someone you care about. You get a ceremony, a signed ring/dress/tuxedo, and thats it.

Really don't see a point in game marriage on either side just play the role in game as a married couple don't need a contract or paperwork to prove your love for each other actions speak louder than any written document.

This thread's not really about marriage as a whole. If they weren't implementing it at all then this would be fine. The problem I have is that they're implementing it but restricted. Not fair to a number of their paying customers.
