So i can't either answer to the phone, i can't go in another room if someone is calling me, i can't go to bathroom... Cuz of timer?

Why some ppl still don't want to bring this game to the standards i'll never know i suppose.

Is it that hard to say give me an hour, I'm on a raid to the person in the other room before you enter? If whatever you're being called to do is that important you probably shouldn't be playing games at that time.

There's usually plenty of time to answer the phone.

Yeah, because raids are so much more important than real life.

This kind of attitude is exactly what makes timers a nasty problem. IThey make some elitists think they're justified in bitch at people that have a real life emergency or need to step away from the keyboard for a minute, on top of seriously hampering the enjoyment of the dungeon itself.

In your goal to bash elitists, you ignore that the majority of players really do understand when real life issues arise while we're all in-game. For every person that would bitch you out for need to afk, there are probably 100 players that would have ZERO issues with you doing so because we've all been there. Timers have nothing to do with this specific issue other than your personal problem being made into everyone's problem. Even though this is game that doesn't mean the time we put into it isn't important or can't be important to us.

Basically if you're considerate, no one is going to bitch you out.

Well if you undertook something that requires you stay focused for 30min to an hour, then you should be able to do that. In any case, I've had people afk for 5-10mins while doing timed runs and it's not that serious. Excessive amounts of time are kind of ridiculous though. I don't think it's elitist to be annoyed by someone doing that. And like I said, the timer isn't the actual problem.

Since they got rid of speed runs, I think we all benefit from that. But to remove timers altogether? Nah. Too extreme and not really beneficial.

I'd argue that it's not really beneficial to have them. It just makes things more stressful and encourages people to just rush through. Adding a time limit doesn't really make things more difficult in the sense I would consider something difficult, it just means people are going to find the path of least resistance and constantly use it no matter what. While it's true that most would normally do that anyway for the sake of efficiency, it would be nice for those who don't care about taking a little longer to do so.

Timers are the issue because, as I said, even if your group is fine with your afk time, the game isn't. The timer in the corner just keeps ticking away. Should you go afk for excessive amounts of time? No. However with time limits it doesn't matter what your group thinks. You're losing time plain and simple.

It's not in any way beneficial to *have* them, they're just a relic of the past when servers were crappy and needed to flush people out as soon as possible to make room for more.

Timed runs simply give the most dic*ish elitists a great excuse to further their policy that games are serious business and should be put ahead of real life of everyone involved.
