I'd rather have a dungeon that is difficult for reasons other than time limits.
This is essentially my main problem with timers. Right now, you have an hour to clear a dungeon and all these trash mobs in your way that were obviously designed to be killed, in addition to be bosses, with the time allotted. On top of this, they made loot tied to clearing the dungeon in a certain manner within a specific time limit, which in turn led to training through mobs and stacking your party in such a way to clear the dungeon within the speed run time limit. Then there's also the cutscene skipping that was mentioned. You shouldn't be forced to skip out of a story cutscene and go back and rewatch it on your own time because of timers.

We know the speed run component is going away except for doing achievements, and now you should be able to take any combination of jobs (i.e. people playing what the WANT to play) to be able to clear the dungeon within the time limit.

Really not a good example, because while I'm not really a proponent of timers, I'm also of the belief that going into a dungeon, you should have that time set aside to do just that. That's why Dragonheart's argument of people playing while at work, then all of a sudden needing to go AFK to go BACK TO WORK, doesn't really hold any water with me. You have take into consideration the other people's time you're playing with.

All in all, I'd prefer not to have some clock ticking in my face dictating how much time I have to accomplish something. I know most MMOs have some mechanic that does this, but psychologically, I think I'd rather know going into a fight "We have 30 minutes to kill this boss before the trash respawns" versus having a clock ticking down.

More like you should prioritize watching your kid over playing a video game that requires your attention for blocks of time.

So i can't either answer to the phone, i can't go in another room if someone is calling me, i can't go to bathroom... Cuz of timer?

Why some ppl still don't want to bring this game to the standards i'll never know i suppose.

You're too much anchored to the past :/

Is it that hard to say give me an hour, I'm on a raid to the person in the other room before you enter? If whatever you're being called to do is that important you probably shouldn't be playing games at that time.

There's usually plenty of time to answer the phone.

And, you can do your business in the bathroom between runs.

    Time management isn't that difficult.

Yeah, because raids are so much more important than real life.

This kind of attitude is exactly what makes timers a nasty problem. IThey make some elitists think they're justified in bitch at people that have a real life emergency or need to step away from the keyboard for a minute, on top of seriously hampering the enjoyment of the dungeon itself.

In your goal to bash elitists, you ignore that the majority of players really do understand when real life issues arise while we're all in-game. For every person that would bitch you out for need to afk, there are probably 100 players that would have ZERO issues with you doing so because we've all been there. Timers have nothing to do with this specific issue other than your personal problem being made into everyone's problem. Even though this is game that doesn't mean the time we put into it isn't important or can't be important to us.

Basically if you're considerate, no one is going to bitch you out.

You're missing my point. If you don't have time to be doing the raid you shouldn't be doing it.

ah so that's what it is. shame on those parents that want to escape all the whining and Diaper changes only for a few hours and shame on them for wanting to keep up and run dungeons with the big boy's and girls. Maybe parents should pick up Alcoholism as a past time. instead of gaming for an hour or two while being aware of there child presence, they can instead be passed out and unaware of what there child is doing like playing with fire.

People play games as a past time or to have a relaxing afternoon and not have to worry about being shit on by there peers because something in life called them away from the game for 10 minutes while running an instance. the only time gaming becomes a job is if your designing/testing the dame thing.

Awful place to use sarcasm. If you're a parent, your children are your priority...or rather they should be. Video gaming is not a means of escaping the reality of life. SE makes this clear with their note telling you not to forget friends, family etc. Shame on any parent who would prioritize in any way experiencing a video game over taking care of their child, however short that time may be.
