I did post on the questions for the live letter for more arcanist/summoner info. While youre usually on point with your posts elexia, i have to respectully disagree on carby for arcanist, but not summoner. If they do implement that (which who knows they might) it would seem jacked up to me that as a summoner you lose a part of your class, which doesnt happen to any other class (stats not withstanding archer obviously can out dd a brd, talking strictly abilities here).

I also cant see being able to use carby on other classes or jobs. If the job equivalent of the arcanist class can use it then why would they make it available to everyone else. Even if they made carby summoner useable, it would still seem wron to me to be able to have him on other classes.

Ill be happy as long as i have an actual pet, whether its carby or whatever, on smn. Im really hoping they dont take a pet CLASS and turn it into a generic mage JOB. Call me crazy but i used to like to solo nms in ffxi as lolpup. Im hoping i get to do that again as a summoner.

On one of my earlier posts on this thread I linked a video and the time in said video where they announced that Carbuncle WOULD be replaced by the summoner's primal essences instead. That being said, after watching it again I think I might have been wrong about the pets coming out for a single move and then retreating again, since they said that the essences would have more 'specialised roles'. Maybe that means that the 2 Carby roles (tank and caster) would be replaced by 4 primals of different elements which each have a different way of behaving (e.g., enmity tank/damage tank/DD/offensive mage/defensive mage).
The idea of controlling them may be difficult though... they might end up being majorly AI so we'd have little input into what they do.
