I swear, people on these forums make it seem like "simple" things are rocket science and create absurd ideas and pose them as "logical". To be frank, this is what is happening (in TLDR form):

1. Our Data was saved.
2. Servers are purchased/rented in different Regions
3. 2.0 data is being placed on them
4. Using Server Population servers are named (i.e. Aegis goes to Japan due to high JP population, Ragnarok goes to EU)
5. At game launch we connect onto a login server, re-create character and choose an "existing server"
6. I go to _____ because the high NA population (meaning it is in the US)
7. Enjoy 2.0 on the region/server of choice

I'd eliminate "cost" factors as much as possible as they are going to do nearly whatever it takes to make this not suck due to damaged image.

So where did you hear 4 - 6 from?

No where but there is a reason behind census polls and it logistically speaking the easiest approach to avoid more data movements is to locate the regional server by the population base. I mean would you put Ragnorak in Japan which was labeled a European server? Doubtful.

If they decide to rename them all entirely they can throw the naming schematics out of the equation and to be honest it doesn't matter what they are named and where they are placed. Just from a database standpoint I'd want most my servers with Japanese majority servers to likely be in Japan, not America.
