    Because they're not the exact same model, and they're taken from 2D and re-imagined into 3D. There's a lot more work, and new art will have to be created.

    Adamantoise is IDENTICAL. Not similar. IDENTICAL. With one or two mobs that's fine, but once they start adding IDENTICAL mobs into the game it's a slippery slope.

    I don't mind them taking the concepts.

    I'm glad some of you aren't in control of making an MMO. If you seriously think SE has the time to make all new models for everything right now you are delusional.

    They posted that picture because they were testing large scale fights against big mobs to see how the server could handle it. I'm sure the Adamantoise model from XI was a convenient fit to test this out.

    Maybe I should start bolding random words to try to hype up my argument though; because someone else pointed this out earlier and it was ignored.

    Maybe we should al sit tite until we at least make it to beta? Anything is set to change either by being taken out or added? I got no problems and gripes either way as do most of us. Best we can do atm is see where it goes and base our judgements off whats presented to us.

    Maybe people should start reading posts instead of skimming. Then bolding words wouldn't be so necessary.

    Same name/concept with a new design? Awesome! (Primals, Chocobo, Ahriman, Bombs, Cactuar, Puk, Bogy, Funguar, etc.)

    Identical model and textures? Eh... try to keep it to a minimum.

    Personally, for small/ordinary mobs, its not a big deal. We have Raptors, Goblins, Mandragora, Qiqirn, Apkallu, Imps, Goobbue, Opo-opo, Peiste, etc. which are all identical in design to their FFXI counterparts... A lot, but not a problem.

    Wholesale import of unique/boss monster geometry like Adamantoise (or Atomos for that matter) begins to be distracting.

    Caveat: If Adamantoise is downgraded from a boss/NM to an ordinary, wandering mob in FFXIV, I wouldn't be bothered much.

    I've long said that FFXIV should have more giant (non-NM) mobs wandering around for players to exp or farm. If importing Adamantoise is how they accomplish that, then I'm good~

    I was under the impression Adamantoise was never a "special" monster except in XI.

    I would imagine they're more akin to the giant crabs or frogs that are already in XIV.

    If SE copies an actual boss monster (primal/character/etc) then I'll join the camp of, wtf copy paste.

    The other sticky issue with Adamantoise is that it's an old iconic FF monster that has received a modified design in every FF game except (apparently) FFXIV

    Seeing the FFXI version in this game breaks that trend.
