Theres another issue what i haven't seen mentioned that is a usual complaint about In game VIOP services:

If your game crashes....you loose Coms. Infact you can't even tell people you crashed because....you crashed voice too. Its just not the best system. Sometimes the best functionality comes from not evening every function in one program/client.

Not to mention most VIOP "seems" shall we say, extreamly tacked on. Generally because it is either added later in the games life. Or decided to be done late in development.

Theres more pros and cons, but i'm at work so i'll have to stop here. ^^

Well if you are raiding seriously you would have the mobile phone number of one of your guild mate or raid leader to warn that you cannot log back on for any reason (so you can be replaced). In case of power or internet connection loss, using an external software isn't the right solution.

Also I hope that in ARR, the party monitor will be improved so if someone crash/get DC'd, his name remain in the party monitor, but just grayed out or with a symbol/mention that the player is disconnected. That way, everyone can make the difference between someone leaving a party, someone logging out "the normal way" or someone crashing/being dc'd.

Finally, restarting the game should be done semi-automatically upon crashing and it shouldn't take over a minute (unless you had to reboot your PC).
