Why FFXIV saving before 1 NOV? Why OCT 31?

:O?? What information has you? As far as I know alpha is supposed to be started and hasnt and beta happens sometime after that.

Yeah last words were:

"Alpha will begin in late September or Early October."

"Beta will begin in November."
Then
"Alpha will begin after the worlds come offline on November 11th."
Then
"Alpha will begin near end of October (basically late November.)"

No real word of Beta honestly.

Beta will most likely begin after the final save export has been completed. (which, as we've said before, will take at least a month). Of course, this is a prediction, not fact, but I don't expect it to begin before that.

Arent we starting new characters in the beta? Not sure why we need them to start beta. Unless maybe they are going to wipe the data as soon as it is converted.. XD that's scary lol

Pretty sure they originally planned us on using our characters but later said that they dont think it is possible - and that we can use the benchmark to load our characters and modify them and implant a code provided to make our characters from that benchmark.

initially, the test will use new characters, yes, but we will be using our real ones before its over (e.g. before the game is released to the general public). Whether you want to call that part of the beta or not is up to you.

If it doesnt save progress, then I'll say that is part of the beta :P.

That is something to look forward to, then I can make a new character get the feel and then try my old one out. Make a better race choice, maybe still the same but w.e lol

We've been in a beta for 2 years with our characters. A month with ARR can still be a beta.

A beta isn't necessarily measured by if your data carries over or not. Many games have had betas where people get to keep what they did during it.

I've always wondered about that, you'd think ARR would go straight to beta then ;p
