People will always find a way to whine
They fell behind schedule from the roadmap a long time ago. The roadmap does NOT give any exact dates and its only a guide to what they are doing as time goes on. It's not some kind of binding contract. We knew months ago, however, at least vaguely when the game was shutting down and when 2.0 was coming. None of these dates were set to spite or upset you. They gave gave a plenty reasonable amount of advance notice. If they just said TODAY that the servers were shutting down next week, I would be upset. But they didnt.Maybe my miss information - but I "Thought" alpha was meant to be starting now. Going mostly of this and a post I heard at least a few months ago. http://gdl.square-enix.com/ffxiv/dow...Roadmap_EN.pdf
You can't tell things very well then, because this is flat out not true. I give my honest opinions on subjects. Sometimes I disagree, yes, but sometimes I do agree- And most of the time, in the latter case, I show my support with a "Like" rather than a long drawn out explanation of why I support it. Some things don't need an explanation. As far as I can tell you just go around the forums saying no. "SE obviously has a plan" I lol'd.
Look all over the forum, almost everyone tends to say "no" more than "yes." that doesn't mean they are the "no police" or that they came here just to shoot people down. I am neither of those things. For the most part, most of the people I'm saying "no" to are people that are whining and complaining- So in all actuality, I'm "Yes" to something positive whenever I'm saying "no" to whining and complaining. "No" isn't always an undesireable response, either. Should SE include large piles of excriment on the streets of the three nations? Yes or no? Would you say yes to that?

A "yes" thread.
I'm completely sick of being accused of being a naysayer. I did NOT come here just to say no to everything for the sake of saying no.
I don't know where you get these delusions, but I sure didn't make those statements to feel "special."Your silly speeches about "plenty of time" and "once in a lifetime opportunity" is reminiscent of snow flake speeches.
I wanna be, very special, like no one ever can be....
They aren't just "trashing the servers" and having complete downtime. The servers will come back up, and people who need something to do will still be able to play while the testing is going on. SE said that after the 11th, the servers will come back up and will stay on during the test period as long as there is sufficient interest.Definitely - but they should be transferring data already and updating pieces over time instead of just trashing the whole server. Having a complete down time isn't good for them as it gives us time to play other games.

Seeing as the road map is the best layed out information to go by - Im going by that. They are behind schedule and should only be following schedule once caught up. Changes to the schedule are allowed (of course) but within the reason that they can actually maintain the logical structure to the rest of the schedule (and since we have no updates from them - I'm assuming no). They fell behind schedule from the roadmap a long time ago. Delusions, no - You said that we had plenty of time and shouldn't be given any more because you want to cut things off. I'm still going to call you a snowflake for trying to stop things from other people (specially since it "appears" that they are no where near schedule - though they have been rather tight lip about such information.. which most likely isnt good).

Srsly, who cares guys

SE pull away devs from FF XIV 1.0 to work full force on FF XIV 2.0I think the bigger question is why are they taking our characters down in the first place - they're not even in alpha, and they plan on reviving the servers in a non saving state.
Seems like we could have played a few more months before even bothering to switch into beta.
Things can go wrong on 1.0 after this and there wouldn't be someone with enough free time for a fix.

Besides the seasonal events I dont think anything needs a "devs" attention - but perhaps the devs are the ones that maintain servers in their off time (money crunch?). Could be the exact reason why.
The road map was made over a year ago. Nobody can truly predict the future that far in advance, so you should not be expecting them to 100% adhere to it to the letter. Plans change, things get delayed, mistakes happen, crap happens. Deal with it.Seeing as the road map is the best layed out information to go by - Im going by that.
your insult still makes no logical sense. A "snowflake" is a child whom people take overly extrordinary measures to protect. I don't even see how you can liken that to this situation. I'm not protecting you or anyone from anything. I am however, telling you to suck it up, because you knew this was coming and you had plenty of time to prepare. That's not being a snowflake, that's just being real. You said that we had plenty of time and shouldn't be given any more because you want to cut things off. SE is not going back on anything. No precise dates of any kind were given in that roadmap- Thus your use of it as a reliable information source is misguided. The highest level of precision it had was "month-" And they honestly aren't that far off- I'm actually impressed they held to it as closely as they did.

Yes things get delayed, so why hasnt the server been delayed as well. The servers going down was to be alright as we would already be playing with the new client and begun our free trials of ARR.
I've never heard of this use of the word snowflake. The way I've heard and used it for means someone who wants to be special, specially so that they will go by means to make sure someone else cant have what they have.

*dear lord*
It HAS been delayed- by just as much as everything else has been delayed. If they were perfectly on schedule, the final save would have happened a while ago and we'd already be in beta. The road map gave no date or even an approximate range of when there would be a "final save." In fact, we didn't even know for sure at the time if our data would be carrying over or not.Yes things get delayed, so why hasnt the server been delayed as well.
Then you haven't heard of the only colliqual use of the term i've ever seen in all my years.I've never hard of this use of the word snowflake. "You must protect my precious snowflake from the dangers at the playground! Cover everything in bubble wrap. We must protect our little snowflakes!"
"snowflake" has long been a common term on the Internet for sarcastically referring to children whose parents are demanding extreme measures to protect them.

Then dont shut down the game till beta is up or at least in sight.
Good to know - I've never heard that one before. Then you haven't heard of the only colliqual use of the term i've ever seen in all my years.
