a theme park doesn't work, its a jack of all trades is great at nothing. mmo's like this won't work, they will lose people fast. same as tv shows that are now trying to do the same ...by adding other genre's into syfy to get higher audiences. those shows get canceled in 1-2 seasons. and mmo's are no different. yeah all the talk and hype get people into the doors to play and spend money on the disk but your not gonna keep them longer then that.

and i'll say it over and over, they keep failing mmo's in general, mmo companies will just make sure they launch knowing they will make money on just the disks. we just need to stop supporting them if they don't change there ways.

Keep in mind I am only stating this in regards to SE, not MMO's everywhere, but I think that isnt at all the business model they are shooting for with 2.0 here man. Reasons are as follows:

The game is relaunching with a subscription model (not something they would do if they wanted just your disc money) They clearly want ALL of our money, not just the chump change 60 dollar deposit.

XI is their largest cash cow to date, something I feel they would like to repeat.

Everyone knows that 1.0 was a polished turd, and thats not exactly the kind of thing that has people lining up for midnight releases to get their hands on first thing when they announced they have remade it.

Don't get me wrong, they are a corporation, so I 100% agree with you that their 1 and only goal is to make money. I just don't think 2.0 fits the bill for the "get your disc money" model many other companies have tried. If 2.0 sucks I think they are aware what will happen. I mean, they lost a lot of credability after 1.0 launched, or they wouldn't have bothered attempting to remake it. People will do the same I think if this one sucks too. Nothing lasts forever. Except herpes, that shit is fo life!!!!

yeah i don't think ffxiv2.0 will be the disc cash. it's too late for that one, the ps3 cost i think is like 40bucks and 30for pc when it launches. i'm saying this is how i see the direction of all mmo's coming forward in the future if they keep making mmo's that launch and fail. that last statement was for all mmo's in general. if we can speed threw time and see a mmo in 10years i wouldn't be surprised if it was enough content to be called an old offline game with a monthly to it.

-Sky (People soloed the lesser gods plenty of times 75 cap.)
-AF Quests (You never needed a group for the majority of the quests unless you wanted to be safe.)
-Unlocking Jobs (You can solo the grand majority of all advanced classes.)
-Assaults (Most only use 2 people to enter to do it solo.)
-Story Missions (Only the fights required a group.)
-BCNMs (You clearly never did Job BCNMs)
-Limbus (People solo'd and duo'd these even at 75 cap.)
-Salvage (This is solo content now excluding the level 99 version)
-Reputation farming is a purely solo thing, but according to you, this shouldn't be considered content.

What's wrong with bringing FFXIV up to the industry standard?

1.0 was a barely playable mess which SE had to make apologies for.

The game still has the FFXI races along with other FF elements like chocobos. Its not a WoW clone they are using FF lore and flavor in the game.
