I can empathize with your posts Gramul because you state your oppinion without being overly negative or out-right hostile.

It -could- be the next carbon copy, but I have more faith in SE. Half of these other MMO companies weren't around when Square and Enix were making games. I'd say that puts them on equal potential with Blizzard.

The amount of people still playing Guild Wars 2, both PvE and PvP and WvWvW.... it'd would be a great game to take some ideas from IMO

... guild wars 2 is a horrible game though... I got 80 and stopped playing completely quest system was god awful leveling was not very enjoyable... story was mediocre along with music... ITS PVE was throwing ppl at a mob until it dies without the trinity its all there was no tank and 1/4 shitty healers... PVP was just large annoying mess of fighting "anonymous" players from another dimension... I hated Guild Wars... 5 limited abilities per weapon guh... it was just one giant face desk in my eyes... specially the shitty dungeon system which is still worse then XIVs

Gw2 is the girl next door of MMOs.

Cute always welcoming, cooks you food. Is nice to be around but you get bored sometimes.

FF14 is the girl that ties you to the bed in handcuffs and sometimes hits you, also wears your favourite t-shirt and takes it with her when she leaves in the morning

And from what I have gathered here on the forums that's what FF MMO players prefer.

you still want me to go out and kill wildebeests till I get 5 horns.
Lol, no different than killing "Wildebeests" till you level 5-7 times, Where are you getting at here? Weather or not the Quests have a compelling story or not, your still doing the same thing kill X monster so many times :P.

Just how I see it, I'm playing Aion currently, and it still feels like I'm mindlessly grinding mobs ( if you minus the quest givers story).

If all you got from the Quest giver was kill 10 of these Bees for 5k exp in total from the Quest giver, you could get the same amount If approach to level was to level at X camp for Y Levels, and those 10 bees could give 5k exp as well if you just killed them minus the quest.

To me it's the same thing.

The only issue with quests is progression itself.

If the quests are linked in a set order, you might be on a different step from your friends/random people and not be able to do the quest at the same time.

But it's not the same thing. In XI you where forced to group to progress, and from that you where taught how to use your job. I reached level 50 in GLA and was in a party 5 times. None of which did I have to do anything but swamp the enemies. It was only till later that I began learning what to and what not to do. Was it the best way to go about it? Probably not. I can't say I was thrilled with grinding, but it's really not my main point.

In any case, it's not the focus. I hold the issue that quests should be interesting. All the way through. The content of which should not just be an excuse to grind, but an actual engaging event.

I'll use XI as an example (It's okay, I'm a doctor or something).
In one quest, you need to wear a certain set of clothes to impress a girl to get gloves.
In another, you have to go around advertising a hat to various NPCs.
And in another, you have to climb a small mountain to pay respects at a grave, on monument (I forget the exact details for that one)

And those are just a few low level starters. Later on you can do an escort mission while avoiding the sight of the person you're trying to protect.

Quests now, are just focusing on the WoW standard. An excuse to grind, and while it's nice to have something to occupy your attention while you do it, how is it all that different from levequests? The ability to do them nonstop? You don't have to go back to the city to pick them up 4 at a time? Heck, if they just streamlined that part of it, would people even notice?

I'd just like my quests to read and play with varied concepts. You know, make it fresh and interesting with each new adventure. An MMO can be so much more than a fast as possible run to max level to do endgame fights till the next piece of content comes out.

Give this world some life. Make quests something actually worth spending time on.
