Hmm, to be honest I am not sure why ppl say it is moraly wrong... how is it moraly wrong?
You lost the lot and that really should be the end of discussion, nothing wrong or unethical there.

Imagine 3 people rolling on /random.

Person A wants the item. Rolls a 50.
Person B wants the item. Rolls a 75.
Person C doesn't want the item and only intends to pass to Person A. Rolls an 80.

So person B won over person A, but person C won over person B. Person C receives the item and then passes it to Person A.

Basically, person A had a 66% chance of winning and person B only had a 33% chance.

Whether or not it is fair to person B is questionable to some, but not others.


So... If joining a Pick Up Group (or partial PUG) it's best to be clear on the drop rules, and gracefully pull out at the beginning if it doesn't meet your expectations.

This really has nothing to do with morals. If this person was giving up his right to roll on what he really wanted to help out a friend, I see no problem with that. It's not like a seal came up and he decided to switch after he knew the seal was already up. I don't know why they would have felt like they needed to do the exchange in private, but still nothing unethical about this situation. As has already been stated, your chances to get the drop didn't change just because another persons chance to win increased. I have a feeling that you are more upset about letting the guy who won the seal change what we was lotting for to seals. Next time just don't let someone change mid party.

I would say, yes. If you intentionally lot on something that you are planning to let be destroyed in the event you win it, not only is it wrong but you are not a very good person.
