I don't understand how it's so hard to have content for both. XI seemed to handle it better later on.

You have a point, by the time FF11 had found a balance the game was already 6-7 years old and there was so much content already, FF14 is the complete opposite.

SE will obvious make content for which ever player base is biggest, which is the main reason for the players polls no doubt.
