This I agree with. I am not trying to argue that SE is being malicious in doing this in fact far from it. I believe they genuinely want all aspects of ARR to work including the economy, and I think they did learn a lot from the problems with XI. I firmly believe they want to avoid XI's problem with rmt.

I feel they could handle the impact to those players who spent a lot of effort on gil making better. The 10s of millions I will loose in this in no way shape or form will be as easily remade as the 300 gil one of my friends is loosing. One 50 leve and he will be back where he started, but with the new economy it may take me years to get back to where I am now. My friend has focused all his play time getting his/our LS stuff instead of getting stuff for himself so I am happy he is loosing nothing in this, but at the same time its a bit absurd to call it equitable for everyone. Making economic adjustments is fine, but they need to take into account that players who invested time and effort in making gil instead of spamming Garuda, or AV are getting the short end of the stick in this process.

I'm not an economist, but I do think that when you add in the population changes, world transfers, and the new gil sinks like housing, the result will be an economic model that is much more complicated than their simple fractional math leads us to believe. Those fraction just get us to a starting point in ARR.

I hope to god this does take care of the rmt's they're a big eyesore. People can say what they like about them being paid subscribers but in the end they are a violation of Tos. Blah, I'm not an economist either but I do know some things about economy. I've lived through a lot of bad times and I've heard about bad times from my great grandmother who was born and alive during the great depression. Anyway, even then why would someone want to hoard gil in this game... to me gil is meant to be spent and to buy things you need like gear and such, but that's at least my own opinion in the matter because unless you have a damn good ls willing to hand you all your gear and all that on a plate (even mine doesn't do that lol) then you're going to have to fork out that money. No reason to sit on it when it there's no profit for it. (again my opinion on it)

also just to add in some time soon there will be a raise in the level cap so there will be a drop in the higher end items. I don't know exactly when it will be but there will be one and so all the gear people have when they lvl past 50 will end up becoming less in price... that's including relic and what not sooooooo yeah.

Are you sure? It says so in the title, so it has to be true right?

Doubtful that it will make any changes to how rmt earn their gil. Is not a loss or restructuring of wealth:its a relabeling of wealth.

Just like Wikipedia has proven that the African elephant population has tripled in the last 6 months. Until wiki admin locked the page for vandalism.

If this is totally transparent to your economic worth, then why is SE even bothering doing this? Why not leave it alone? New players would come into the game and soon have millions and millions of gil, following the same economic paths that everyone else did in 1.0. It still works. I know people in this game that have 100M+, and others that don't have 1M.

The answer to this is simple and obvious, yet no one has really mentioned it or taken issue with it, one way or the other. For ffxiv to be a profitable venture tons of new subscriptions will be needed. How much of a deterant would it be to any of you to begin a game where a large piece of the existing player base already had 100M+ gil? Would it be less of an issue if those who have played for 2 years have 10M? I fully understand SE's objective here.

For those of you who profess to fully understand the supply/demand model, and argue that this is totally transparent, then complete the damn model, and ask yourself this - if the ability to make gil in 2.0 is exactly 10% of what it is today, then fine, I agree that thru time this is transparent, and not another peep out of me. However, I sincerely doubt that, and none of you know this. If in 2.0 the ability to make gil is anything > than 10%, then in effect, SE has level-set the playing field for new players, and have, in fact, diminished your economic value, as it relates to the general game population. If anyone has trouble with that concept, send me a p.m.

Given that, SE lied to us. Oh don't worry my little 1.0 beta testers, all your gil and gear will transfer to 2.0. Right.
I believe Yoshida said himself that part of the reason for the change was simply to not have big numbers just because. Having lower numbers makes things easier to work with.

Players may feel like "my money is being reduced!" However, we're doing this so that when we launch A Realm Reborn and support it for many years to come, it will be easier to play with a more realistic sense of value than just having huge economical digits just because.
