You completely fail to understand, period. How is a 90% gil cut going to help anything? Those who are at or over the new cap will STILL be HUGELY ahead of those of us who don't spend every waking minute looking for ways to make gil. I've worked my butt off farming materials and spiritbonding materia for my double-meld, not just bought one like so many people. I've struggled to keep as much as I've earned and I'm not a gil-hoarder or exploiter. My hard-earned 3mil will become 300k, and I will STILL not be able to keep up with those who will be going from 99,999,999 to 9,999,999. And those who have 9,999,999 will still set prices too high for new players and now old players alike. I just, I completely fail to understand the logic here.
Don't you realize you'll be able to buy exactly the same with your 300k then than with your 3m now? Seriously?
/clap +1!This is the problem with redenomination - the psychological impact.
You are not losing ANYTHING. Think of it this way;
NOW: you have 10,000gil and a Gysahl green costs 2,500g from the escort NPC
That is 10k/2.5k = 4 .. That is 25% of your gil.
In 2.0 EVERYTHING is getting the reduction meaning that:
You will have 1000gil and a Gysahl green will cost no more then 250g from the NPC
1000g/250g = 4 ... which is 25% of your gil.
25% = 25%
We lose nothing.
I really don't know how to make it more understandable than that. lol

Lol but then I'll be all the way poor!
In all honesty, if this is what was happening to people, all money being reset to 0gil, then I think people should rage. But it's not. Lol, yet people are irate!
Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
But the poor!!! Rawble rawble rawble redistribution! rawble rawble rawble free health care rawble rawble DEY TUK MAH JURB!This is the problem with redenomination - the psychological impact.

You guys on that side of the argument need to stop assuming we are all stupid. You are acting like everything sold by players will all be put up for 1/10 of current prices. Yes prices will fall but I'm doubting it'll ever get as low as 1/10 of current prices. meaning we all took a cut and its not exactly the same as before.
Who cares seriously. It's a new game and we're the minority. I enjoyed playing 1.0 from January until now but recognize that many things have to change in order for the game to be successful in the sea of MMO's. One of the most important things that need to change is to get an economy in working order and for that to happen I would gladly sacrifice ALL MY GIL.
Look at it this way SE doesn't want us (the minority who played this game during 1.0) to provide an artificial barrier for new players to obtain things. If they let us in with the money we have now we could literally place a stranglehold on the market much like the early Japanese launch players of XI were able to place an early stranglehold on the market there. For about a year we could easily control the flow of everything in that game potentially turning many people away.
People, let it go. Let the new game flow organically and evolve in a natural way. We don't want the remnants of 1.0 to poison the potential of 2.0.
Besides, we don't know how easily materia will be obtainable, how much gil quests will give, what new things we can farm and so on and so forth.

i feel the same way as you do here. the only issue i had with the original announcement was that it was stated by the rep making it seem as though only the people above the cap would be affected. that is where i had the issue. once i seen rein's translation since it's more reliable most times and seen it was coming from every player my issues were solved.
i'm not going to be foolish and think that every item will ever get down to 10% of what they cost now though. i don't ever see shards of any type selling for 3gil each nor foods selling for 100, but i can see gear prices dropping quickly to fall inline.

Yes, we ALL took the cut. what was the problem again? You guys on that side of the argument need to stop assuming we are all stupid. Aion Zwei - Masamune
The fact you are losing gil you earned. some of you dont care. but next time prices are out of hand itll be ok for them to just knock off another digit right? or you think itll never happen again?
This is not math. This is economics. There has to be meaning behind the numbers. If you high schoolers had half a brain, then maybe our economy irl wouldn't be so bad.
